Review from MAXIMUMROCKNROLL 311 • APRIL 2009 ADA+MAX / N.E.K. - Split CD
Killer split disc from Japan's ADA+MAX, teaming up with N.E.K. from Brazil. ADA+MAX starts off with their bizarro hybrid of japanese fastcore, blown out to oblivion then mixed with death rock and wailing guitar leads that creep out of the distortion-mist. The vocals do more to set this band apart than anything else, almost veering into cockrock territory from time to time, but only in the most tasteful way. 45 GRAVE as reincarnated by EXCLAIM. N.E.K. starts off with a bang (literally, there's an explosion sampled at the start of their first track - you know, like "Bang!") and crashes me, the listener, through five raw-as-fuck tracks of crossover madness. It's like the first two DRI records as reincarnated by...well, EXCLAIM. If you like your shit noisy and fast, then this is perfect. I do, and it is. (WN) Wllie Nelson Maximum Rock N Roll
