Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. Tour continues to go well. Great audiences and crazy shows. I managed to get Beginner's lesson 8 to Dick and Linda before I left AZ., so they will get it to you soon.
To answer some recent questions: regarding harmonics in "Keith Don't Go", there's Intermediate Guitar Lesson 2 which is all about how to play harmonics and Lesson 1 has the "Keith" song mapped out and includes those specifics. The thumb pick I'm using in the new Fender Strat video on the "Ghost of Tom Joad" solo with the "guitar cam" view is a standard ..Golden Gate.. thumbpick (large), as I have thick fingers. In recent Hyde Park show, what looked like a black Les Paul is actually a Gretsch Black Penguin (solid body) with gold trim that I've been using on last two E St. tours along with Black Falcons (hollow body). Both the Falcon and the Penguin have a custom Bixby vibrato bar. (got that suggestion from Tom Lofgren- thanks Tommy!) Regarding acoustic strings verses playing ease: the lighter the string, the easier they are to handle. Flat wound strings (no ridges like traditional wound round) may suit you but in general, the heavier the string, the richer the sound and the harder to play. Lighter strings, the sound gets thinner and easier to finger. Good luck!
Having a great time out here on tour with Amy along. Be safe everyone and I'll stay in touch.
