Some reviews for the single and recent gigs......

Inverness courier review the Franz Ferdinand support at the raigmore hotel.

Isosceles — a Glasgow band tipped to be the next big thing — lived up to their reputation, entertaining an already packed Raigmore Motel with catchy tunes, reminiscent of Franz Ferdinand’s own back catalogue and incredibly catchy. Flattered to be likened to one of Scotland’s most famous musical exports, lead singer Jack McConachie, who describes the band’s music as "funky", said the comparison had only recently been made. Judging by the audience’s reaction, Isosceles has nothing to worry about with their new single, "Get Your Hands Off", which impressed Franz frontman Alex Kapranos at its launch earlier this year.

Highland news reports the Franz Ferdinand support slot in Inverness.

Isosceles – or "I.S.O.S.c.e.l.e.s" as their chorus to make maths teachers smile went – majored ..board ingenuity, allegedly one of the hallmarks of Franz’s upcoming new album, and maybe why the triangular ones got the invite. Their Hendrixy dirty blues number When I Gave You My Number was song of the set, but it had to rough up cute, yet punchy Kitsch Girl to do it, in songs that perfectly set up the headliners.

POPUP and the like from ART GOES of popularity POP the super powerful newcomer ISOSCELES!!

Limited 7 inch of the Glasgow new ISOSCELES! [kiyatsuchi] thin lines, and [yore] is either the man vocal does not accumulate in the beat where this leaps to the dancer bull, ORANGE JUICE to dance pop, the highest kind of number which is converted!! And this there is no complaint with [pankitsushiyurotsukindansuchiyun] where also "I GO" of the coupling runs with comical [shinsehurezu]!! To everywhere post card ~ Glasgow all the 2 tunes which make atmosphere feel. Limitation 500. Large [suisen]!!

Sheffield Phonographic Corporation:

"Fantastical 7" from Isosceles. There’s a Bobby Gillespie feel to the vocals and a Modern Lovers like jauntiness which is wonderfully infectious! And kudos for use of the totally ace pitch-shifting wonky keyboard line which reminds one of both Pulp and a Sega Megadrive. Oh, and the lyrics are smart, all about girls tryna get off with the singer. "I said, honey, don’t use your sexuality on me!" Great, great single."

STV online:

"Isosceles though, are in a different league. Their unassuming onstage air and decidedly ordinary appearance belies the fact that they’re expert crafters of short sharp pop tunes, as exemplified by their new single Get Your Hands Off. Reminiscent of Pulp in its witty lyrics and lead keyboard riff, its actually not their best song, just the catchiest, managing to get pretty much the whole crowd at the gig dancing. Through their set they played one great song after another, demonstrating a pop sensibility not a million miles from Franz Ferdinand, and using their old-school keyboard prominently in every song to define their carefully structured sound. They’re playing acoustically at Cottiers in Glasgow on 29 August and if you haven’t heard them yet you could do a lot worse than going along to discover them"

norman records:

"Isosceles with ’Get Your Hands Off’ on Art goes pop. It’s a modern day foppish Primal Scream with analogue sythns leading the kooky charge. If they were to ride over the hill in battle they’d be dressed in lace neckerchiefs and tight coloured trousers. Defiantly of its age, it’s a lo-fi fun filled cream cake with a short shelf life but for the time being it feels kind of refreshing. B-sides quite a catchy number too!! Hook us in lads..."

resonance:

"Virile, young ladykillers Isosceles burst onto the scene with their first single ’Get Your Hands Off’: a tongue-in-cheek ode of limber, future-pop discussing the ins and outs of how to fend off the girls when you’re just too damn sexy. The song builds from a simple riff to moog-powered madness where groping dancers, rich-bitches, bimbos and winos are all sent packing with the stutteringly simple chorus of "Getcha-getcha-getcha-getcha hands off!". Funky B-side ’I Go’ sustains the fun with jiggy guitars and sing-a-long drum rolls. Refreshing, lo-fi, folly with a throbbing pop core"

"Heard a tune on Vic Gallaways show on Thursday night. Just looked at his play list and I think it was Isosceles and get your hands off. Does anyone know of this band? I totally love this song."

MTV:

"They do for music what chicken does for kiev"

Vic Galloway:

"Franz Ferdinand are diggin these boys and so are we"

Frink music: Top 5 recomendation in august.

"It’s nigh on impossible to dislike a song that casually slings itself on the hookline, "Honey, don’t use your sexuality on me." Especially if it then twibbles off into an incongruous (and way too loud) Duplo keyboard solo. It’s equally difficult to strike a contemplative beard-stroking pose and argue earnestly that it is set to tear the still-beating heart out of a generation. Isosceles luckily sound too genially melodic for such unappealing and self-regarding ambitions. And are all the more enjoyable for it."
