I don't know what implications a guilty or not guilty verdict in the Sean Bell case has on our society.   I only know for certain that we need more sensitivity training as part of the police curriculum.  I also believe a more intimate dialogue must be promoted between police and communities.  This process could change the perception by some  in the hood who view the police presence as an occupying force when they could or should see them as a security force working for the people.

Peace and Blessings

There was a price on Sean Bell's head.

maybe if the police would stop moving around like gang members there would be a better communication. but being from the hood you speak of there is no love in war. there is war on the streets and the only way some officers know how to survive is by becoming what they claim to fight. theres a thin line between gangsters and cops, either could have been the other, some landed on the wrong side.

Sensitivity training sounds nice. But I really think this will only add to the frustration that people of color feel already. Especially with the way Obama is being treated by the racist (yes, racist) MSM. It's obvious that they're desperate for Hillary to win. So we can do all the racist garbage we want to Obama in the meantime. And if he can't take it, then he's not tough enough to be President.

thats all well and good russ, but you got to remember that some of the police grew up with us and the ones that are good, we know, and the ones that aint shit, we know them too, so its more than just letting the police in tha hood, its bigger than that, cuz that shit bush said the other day about the economy is at a slow down, and not a recession, what kind of shit is that to tell the american public, especially the ones who are righteously fucked up, and i know you heard about whats going on in chicago how folks starting to stop playin the radio with this bullshit.
i didnt mean to go all off the subject, but i understand where you coming from with this russ, and i know your people may have looked at all the issues, but we gotta start at the beginning, ya dig!

I completely agree.I would also like to add that,as a black male, though not living in "the hood",I still am a part of it.I still get profiled, for absolutely nothing, and feel "trapped by some of the things they say and do.One thing the police could and should start to practice,is that everyone,is not out to break the law.Everyone, should be treated as individuals, and not classified in the same group of people that are breaking laws, and so on. On a regular basis, the police where I live, often treat a majority of minorities,as if we are all from the same pod.Until they (the police)start to treat each individual as such,(an individual)we will continue to have a tainted view of the police, just as they do of us.Remember when Pac was beat down for a simple jay-walking offense. This has been an ongoing thing, with officers who feel "threatened" by someone simply because of their skin tone, can dish out their own type of "justice" with no direct discipline afterwards. And we,the people, forget that we have moer power than the police.Just think about it. If we were to all band together, just as we did to gain the right to vote, etc, things would be alot different.Cause if there is no one left in the community, who are they protecting and serving, besides themselves. We need to get wise, and start getting a bit more militant in our tactics. Not so much voilent, unless necessary. But we need better leaders and more of our elders to start taking a stand, and stop talking, and start doing.Until that happens, there WILL be more innocent men AND women,AND kids losing their lives for absolutely nothing.PEACE..ONE LOVE..FOR REAL.

The fact that the police are still getting away with murder is depressing. I think the police need more mental evaluation before they are hired. Most of the cops are gangsters or wanna be thugs with the right to cary a fire arm. Or they profile a man based on his past instead of following the proper precedures for searching or arresting a person. Things have to change, and we the people, have to speak out for change.

thank you for being one of the few that speak out.

Those guys need some kind of mandatory counseling or bi monthly evaluation; because you can't do what they do daily and be alright.
Sensitivity training for sure

The feel without the police cameras installed and their presence in my hood, the young people would do nothing but make everyone feel uncomfortable always fighting and ending up shooting their friends. All because they lack self esteem and try to act as if they're criminals. Like life is a movie set and they're actors or something.

Police are always driving by telling them to move from a certain corner or searching them to find evidence so they can arrest them but they try to gather there even though there is a NYPD camera right there watching their activity. Am thinking what kind of sick mentality is this.

So i wonder what's the sense in all that they do to attract the police. Not trying to buy suits to wear so they can look decent and command respect this way. I see two black cops in the papers involved in the shooting of Sean Bell and i wonder why they couldn't stop they partner who shot 31 times as alleged, reloading and continuing to shoot. That's something i can not imagine.

police presence will never stop crime. especially when they seem to have been given a pass to kill at will. crime is a result of a problem with society, but this problem will not be addressed because this country is making tons of cash as a result of crime. how can the people ever trust a system that makes money from criminal activity? would it really be in the justice systems best interest to rehabilitate criminals...probably not. and i doubt there is anything that can be said to make people believe the police are working for them when they can be murdered while unarmed, only to have their murder be termed, justified.

Peace,

"Law governs all events"

"Man know thyself"

The Constitution of the United States, is the Supreme law of the Land. It protects "The People".
Are you one of "the People?" You cannot assume you are, you must know. "Ignorance of the law is no excuse" If you are still using slang, misnomers or 'slave labels' as your"legal status" then you have waived all "rights" and can only rely on government issued "privileges" to protect you and yours. Moreover, a so-called black, or African American are not Constitutionally protected statuses under the term "the People". "NATIONALITY" DETERMINES YOUR LEGAL AND POLITICAL STATUS! In truth, the terms black or African American and others all fall under the slave label "negro". A slave label is for slaves. Slaves have no rights, their Master determines what they have. Slaves are PROPERTY. REMEMBER People have a right to their property (the slave).
Yes involuntary slavery is unlawful, but "Voluntary Slavery" is alive and well.

When in any legal forum one uses slave labels or does not state that they are "one of the People of the United States", they have volunteered contractually, to be subject to, what ever abuse may come. It's not the Judges job to tell you who you are, to help you out in court.
The judge only takes what YOU affirm to be and apply the applicable laws.

So when cops are murdering blacks and being found not guilty, it's mostly because in the eyes of the law, you cannot murder a THING(slave) (property). Only People can be murdered not things. You must Know WHO you are! Not what, who.
NOTICE: clear to the eyes of on-lookers, it's murder, but the Cops are found not guilty, but the families always win in the Civil trial for millions. Why?
To help hide the truth, that you are indeed of the People, "privileges" are awarded through a special statute of law called "CIVIL RIGHTS".
CIVIL RIGHTS are not rights they are given to things (slaves) and can be legally taken away. Rights are God given and cannot be lawfully taken.
Anyone can be a slave by simply not correcting the courts assumption, that you are standing on privileges (slave), not rights (People).
So the cops have violated you CIVIL RIGHTS (privileges), not rights that protect ones life, liberty, and property. THATS WHY ALL OFFICERS TAKE AN OATH TO UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION. Therefore by using the terms "Black and/or African American", which are not true Nationalities of People, the cops need not treat you as People but as someones property.
When the governments "peculiar property" (YOU), is damaged, then law suit damages are awarded. So we volunteer through ignorance of ourselves and the law, to be judged under a slave status instead of Free People. So protest all you want, there are laws for disorderly conduct or dangerous things(slaves). Africa is a Continent not a nation. So African American is a label like negro black and coloured. Even those who come here from Africa say I am Ghanaian American, or Moroccan American(Moorish American), or Algerian American, Egyptian American, never African American. These have Flags and National names to go with them as well as land. People have names, things have labels. DO NOT USE SLAVE LABELS AS YOUR LEGAL STATUS! READ THIS OVER AND OVER AND OVER, until you understand. If you volunteered to become a slave legally then you can become nonvolunteers. It's a contract until YOU void it. LOVE TRUTH PEACE FREEDOM AND JUSTICE.
