Current mood:  accomplished

I've more of less been keeping track of many of the shows I've attended over the years.  I can guarantee there are dozens of gigs missing due to alcohol and memory loss.  There are also countless local bands that can be added to the list, but I haven't done a very good job at keeping track of their gigs.

It's funny to see how tastes have changed over the years.  If I'm missing the specific date of the show, and you know it...please let me know.  Also, if you have a certain memory of one of these shows...please do tell.

And no, I do not suffer from OCD...just a music nut.

I have concert envy! but i DID see the Suburbs back in 1987 at First Ave. A show that I will never forget.

That has to account for SOME level of decency.

I also saw Kenny Rogers last summer at some casino. It's true.

You have no idea how jealous I am of that '96 Pulp show at First Ave. *sigh* I read somewhere once that Jarvis said that was one of his favorite shows they ever did actually.

I was at probably 12 or 13 of the post 1999 shows (as that's when I turned 18 and began driving and hanging out in the city), the most notable being Lovage, Low, and of course Todd Rundgren. This is quite the list. It must have taken a long time to compile this list, along with hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars. Nice work.

Luke.

Hey Jake - What a great exercise! I may try to do the same. We were at a few of the same shows...Fleetwood Mac, many of the Redline shows, Cesaria Evora, Bebel Gilberto, Franz Ferdinand, The Shins, Duran Duran, and more. Simon Le Bon is dirty...and John Taylor is an angel : )

Thanks for sharing.

Holy hushpuppies... I wish I had a list like this lying around. What I'm noticing is a laundry list of non-extant local bands : Lily Liver, Propeller, Brother Sun Sister Moon, February, Reba Fritz, The Domo Sound... Remember when local bands would open for bigger acts? What ever happened to that?

A couple here I still kick myself for Missing : The Blur & Whale show in 95' and Portishead at the Guthrie.

OOoohh- Your list is impressive- I wish I kept better track of shows too. What I did to remember favorite concerts was to throw my ticket stubs into a folder, so I have some oldies still saved.
I was at a bunch of your early 90's shows, and some you haven't mentioned. Most of which were at First Ave. My favorite? Nirvana in the mainroom, perhaps 1991-ish.

Are you sure that was Swoon who played with the Seahorses? It was Mansun for the rest of the tour?

Wow.
I can recount my life history from this list!
There ARE more shows here because we've been to a lot of the same shows actually.
Lots of memories...Pulp WAS a great show, and Blur and Charlatans were always fun too. I remember meeting Miki from Lush when she was playing pin ball at 1st Ave, and we both complemented each other's big plastic sparkly rings, and I remember her giggling like a little girl.

I've saved every ticket from every show I've ever attended. And it would take quite some time to assemble a list like yours. What a great idea!

Does a music show at Valley Fair count? If so, I saw Weird Al Yankovic there around 1983 or '84. I guess that would count as my first official show. If not, then it would be the Fixx at the Orpheum in 1985.

Early on the list, we were both at the SMB & EJ show in '91, and Lollapalooza that same year. And I'm glad to know we saw Jeff Buckley at First Ave in '95. Man, has it been that long ago?

I practically lived at First Avenue through much of the 90s, so I could go on and on about all the shows I saw there. Thanks for this list - it's helped bring back a lot of wonderful memories.

03/22/05- DURAN DURAN
01/11/04- BOWIE
4/13/04 – THE PIXIES (they were my first live show *EVER* in '92!)
10/01/03- THE SUBURBS
03/13/03- COLDPLAY (mainly 'coz I had to review it for Pulse, but left REALLY digging them)
03/01/03- LADYTRON
3/29/03 – REVOLVER MODELE
3/17/02 – OUSIA
12/31/02– CURTIS A/BEATLES TRIBUTE (we played earlier in 7th St./'BABY BANDS PLAY THE BEATLES')
07/16/97- THE ORB
05/??/97- BROTHER SUN SISTER MOON & CHIMERA

Ones I thought FOR SURE you'd have been at but weren't:
2006: GARY NUMAN
2003 (or 4?): AREA 2: BOWIE, MOBY, BLUE MAN GROUP, ASH etc (in Chicago)
1997: SNEAKER PIMPS

Thanks for the memory jog... OMFG, I can't even begin to imagine how many shows I've been to... I think our extended lists probably rival each other in length... Especially from 1998-2001 when I worked @ Twin/Tone & Jill + Co. would load me up with RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS of First Ave comps...!!!

Here's to the memories...
:)

ps- hope MErcedes is well!

Wow! Your list and taste in music is amazing! How great would it be if I had just one local friend to go see Echo and the Bunnymen with me in 2005 or The Ocean Blue in 2007! I'm jealous on the one hand, but I am also thankful on the other that I don't know you personally because otherwise I'd be broke from paying to tag along to see all of these concerts with you. You saw BRMC back in 2005! I only just discovered them last year. Ever see Cibo Matto? I caught their show at the Troubadour in L.A. back in the mid-90's when VIVA LA WOMAN came out. Miho Hatori, the lead singer, has such stage presence that I, as a straight woman, fell in love with her.

Check out Miho's in-studio performance at KCRW last year: http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb070209miho_hatori
