Part punk rock concept album, part poetic observation, and part man-in-the-street reporting, Wish List, Gerry LaFemina's debut collection of stories, chronicles the lives of people who just might be someone you know. His characters--alienated teens, mid-life crisis adults, those suffering from loss or from love--are survivors of the ordinary traumas of America. Sometimes funny, sometimes tender, sometimes heartbreaking, these stories invite us into a world that those familiar with LaFemina's poems will know: one willed with pathos and grit
Gerry LaFemina is the author of several collections of poetry including The Parakeets of Brooklyn (winner of the Bordighera Prize in Poetry, bilingual edition of English and Italian), and The Window Facing Winter (New Issues). He's also the author of two prose poetry collections, Zarathustra in Love and Figures
from The Big Time Circus Book/The Book of Clown Baby. His poem "Returning Home in the MG Just before Dawn" won a 2008 Pushcart Prize. His awards and prizes include a Michigan Arts and Cultural Affairs/Art Serve Individual Artist fellowship,a North American International Auto Show Prize in fiction award, and an Irving Gilmore Emerging Artist fellowship. Wish List is his first story collection.
