Recording @ The Office, Farnborough - 25th October 2009 A day at 'The Office' (Brassneck's top secret practice / recording location). We're planning on getting the drums recorded for our next EP. It's the first time we've taken on such a task by ourselves. Previously we have employed someone who knows what they're doing. I stop off on the way to Sid's to get some chocolate, coffee, chocolate, cakes, chocolate, crisps and a little bit of chocolate. We then meet up with Mark and Neil at Brassneck HQ. Luckily, Neil has brought some chocolate. Kat isn't coming because we're just doing drum stuff today. Obviously we need Mark there, Neil and I are there as technicians. Sid's there to make the coffee. It's going to be a long day so we start off with a cup of coffee (made by Mark) and some chocolate. We then take a couple of hours to set up the (borrowed) microphones to see if we can get something that sounds like a drum kit. This involves a lot of wires and a lot of guesswork. Miraculously it seems to work and we get a decent sound in the headphones. We celebrate by having a cup of coffee (made by Ben) and eating a little bit of chocolate. Sid sits in the kitchen reading the NME. We then rattle through the recordings. It's all going very well. It all sounds very good on the playback, We celebrate this by having a cup of coffee (made by Neil) and some chocolate. Sid is still sat in the kitchen - doing the NME crossword. We've got eveything we wanted recorded - and we still have time left. So we record another three tracks. Blimey. It's all gone very well - we've got the drums recorded for 7 tunes. That's almost an album's worth. We're looking forward to getting back to Brassneck HQ soon to get the guitars and violin done. We'll need some more chocolate and possibly someone else to make the coffee. Ben
