It is a very solemn mood for the entire Bass Odyssey fraternity following World Clash 2007 held on Easter Monday, April 9 at Pier One, Montego Bay.

The highly anticipated return of dancehall selector and clash icon Squingy to the World Clash stage was marred when he fell from the scaffolding above the stage.

Squingy joined Worm and Mark to represent Bass Odyssey in the second round of the clash. Alongside Mighty Crown, Silva Star, Black Reaction and David Rodigan.

Squingy was well recieved by the eager patrons as well as contenders for giving a solid performance. 

He returned in the third round and was attempting to complete his usual stunt of climbing the scaffolding at Pier One and pumping up the crowd. However on reaching the top of the column, as he grabbed the bar that stretched across the stage he had to let go. He held on for a few seconds with one hand and was unable to get back a grip before he fell from the top of the column to the ground. Many feared death after seeing Squingy fall from approximately 25-30 ft from air; hitting the light and the edge of the stage on the way down.

Apparently, he had recieved an electric shock and had to let go of the bar.

When he had reached the top of the column just before he attempted to go on the cross bar, the engineers could be heard saying "tell him not go over that side."

That information was sent too late as Squingy had said that he had planned to climb the scaffolding later that night from the previous round.

However, a few seconds after he hit the ground, his voice could be heard over the mic.

He spoke for at least ten minutes urging the spectators that he would be fine and that the show should go on. The show paused for over an hour, then Bass Odyssey finished the round, Dameion joining Worm and Mark.

The show would NOT have gone on if Squingy had not urged the Bass Odyssey Crew as well as the promoters and the other contenders to continue.

After the Bass Odyssey round the show paused until the ambulance had arrived and Squingy had left the venue. Despite the fact that Cornwall Regional, the second largest hospital in the island was less than ten minutes from the Pier One venue, the ambulance arrived close to an hour after it had been called.

He called by cell phone from the emergency room constantly to check on the progress of the show and the performance of his protege's Worm and Dameion alongside the veteran Mark.

Keith Walford, owner and manager of Bass Odyssey accompanied Squingy to the hospital as well as other people close to the selector and the sound.

After an X-ray, a broken ankle and wrist was confirmed along with a dislocated shoulder. However his attitude would not allow for pity, he was very strong and tried to assure us he would be fine.

Dameion, Worm and Mark returned to the stage in the fourth round and gave the strongest performance of the night.

Bass Odyssey and Mighty Crown went to the tune fi tune final round and Mighty Crown was victorious.

Congrats to the Mighty Crown crew, it was a solid, strong performance thanks for the support and well wishes it is appreciated.
