BENG!!!! I have this already for a week on the ipod and I’m still flabergasted, blown away. What a record. So good I forgot to write a review on it. This is beyond Skweee! It has pop, world, party and beyond all that.Like all Skweee it’s an intriguing blend of Bambataa, Kraftwerk , some dirt from IDM, and the groove of some magical raw funk. But this record brings some extra some blind madness! Some recognize R’nB in it, if so it’s ruffer then crunk tempting like Miss E! He uses the vocal talents of Mama Africa, Afro B. Logic and Micheal Electro Blackgris5.

The ambienesk Tahtien Lapsi is so tenderly squeaked that if pleases the ear magically. Skweee like a Pig is pure power, The Hungry is the ultimate pop song without the cliches. It rocks like hell. Strong in the chorus, can’t sit still on this. The voices are sexy and stick in your memory (is this because they refer to stuff we know?) The synthbass is groovy’! Overnight is pure candy like they made in the 80ies with a real vocoder and some body’s poppin’. So far side A Side B is even more dangerous. Ketamine Strutt is the album rocker. When Randy sent this last summer I was blown away: It sticks to your feet, you cant escape this is dancefloor madness with the push, the hisss, the perfect break. You NEEED this! Duck Butter is not your average fat, its an old skool groove so hip it almost hurts. I’m coming has the graphics of a torpedo and it feels like a take-over of a hypnotizing cult…. towards climax fade. The end of the record closes with this ultimate 80ies synth ballad Love Axe with the duet that stands out next to Paula! A perfect album for me. Sorry that I’m such a fan. Can’t be objective at all. One more thing: PLAY LOUD!!!

Randy Barracuda “Randy Barracuda” (Flogsta Danshall): promuovo piacevolmente, ormai da svariati anni, la musica che giunge dall’Europa del Nord, in virtù del suo eludere mode e stereotipi cercando un’identità sempre e solo nell’ego di chi la produce. E’ il caso di Perttu Eino Häkkinen, già artefice (insieme all’amico Jaakko Kestilä) di progetti temerari come V.U.L.V.A. o Imatran Voima. In questo album da solista edito dalla piccola label svedese di Frans Carlqvist, Häkkinen plasma la sua musica omaggiando il Funk sintetico degli anni Ottanta, il Soul, la psichedelia, l’Electro e l’Hip Hop. Inizia sulla gelida materia kraftwerkiana di “Tähtien Lapsi”, prosegue con “Skweee Like A Pig” raggrinzendo i suoni striduli, barcollando tra Funk e Sid style e facendoli strisciare sotto il netto asincronismo della cassa e si assesta su “Hungry For Another Touch” in cui il rimando alle creazioni donaldiane è quasi d’obbligo. Si rimette in cammino con “Overnight Romancin”, ossia Hip Hop abbracciata allo Psycho Funk, legata indissolubilmente agli anni Ottanta, al Breaks e a quello che di recente ci ha sottoposto Seymour Bits. “Ketamine Strut” è ridente Electro accartocciata su sè stessa e punzecchiata da influenze ad 8 bit, “Duck Butter” rallenta le sue pulsazioni riprendendo le caratteristiche dell’Hip Hop di venticinque anni fa, “I Am Coming” sovrappone canti Afro a corposi bassi, “Love Axe/Heavy Metal” chiude sideralmente alla Arpanet. Un pozzo di stili quello di Barracuda, dal quale attinge un pò di questo ed un pò di quello, sfidando ogni logica commerciale e vincendo sul fronte della creatività.
