What's in My Journal

Odd things, like a button drawer. Mean
Things, fishhooks, barbs in your hand.
But marbles too. A genius for being agreeable.
Junkyard crucifixes, voluptuous
discards. Space for knickknacks, and for
Alaska. Evidence to hang me, or to beatify.
Clues that lead nowhere, that never connected
anyway. Deliberate obfuscation, the kind
that takes genius. Chasms in character.
Loud omissions. Mornings that yawn above
a new grave. Pages you know exist
but you can't find them. Someone's terribly
inevitable life story, maybe mine. --William Stafford.

Current mood:Christmasy

Well, I hope you all got your Christmas shopping in yesterday, because no one is going any where today.

We were let out of work early on Friday due to adverse weather, which dumped about 6 inches or so of snow on my little house in Amherst.  Saturday morning, my neighbors starting moving around, clearing their driveways in an odd harmony of scraping shovels and whirring snowblowers.  I managed to get out and get a hair cut, and then Josh and I visited his sister's family for Christmastime.

This morning, a flash of lightning and crash of thunder announced the arrival of the second band of storms to strike.  It is a true blizzard outside, the only movement in the midst of blowing snow being the occasional plow bursting through the swirling white stuff and then disappearing again at the end of our street like an appiration.

We're supposed get a good 8 to 12 inches by tomorrow morning.  That's okay with us.  I'm cleaning the house for Christmas, fire roaring in our fireplace, hot cocoa at the ready.  This is the stuff I live for.

Hope you are all staying safe and warm!

Me too! I live for these days, when its right before the Holidays, and we can stay in and do fun holiday traditional activities. I am baking cookies and my fiance is baking mini apple pies.
