so last week there was a free concert thing in Long Beach to raise awareness of Hepatitis C (HCV). I saw it posted here on a bulletin, along with another one this weekend in Santa Monica. I thought I'd go but I couldn't find a dollar for bus fare, so I skipped it.
But I was OK with that even though I was a bit disappointed, because tomorrow was going to be the other event to raise awareness for HCV. It's the Los Angeles Acoustic Music Festival or some such name. so I go online and look it up to see the hours and stuff.
Well this one turned out not to be free. In fact they want $120 fucking dollars to get in. Jumping Jesus on a Pogo Stick! Who the hell are they trying to make aware? Uber rich snobs who live in Pacific Palisades? Shit! They can keep their damn music and their awareness. Most people are "aware" that there is a HCV problem. It would be nice to make people aware that people with HCV don't need to be treated like they have AIDS AND Tuberculosis, and can't be kissed or hugged or even touched for that matter. Oh crap. I guess the five people who show up who can afford it will get aware...I hope?
I'm grumpy as hell this morning. I just felt like rambling on about something. It ended up being this concert. David Lindley was playing too. He was in a 60's band called Kaleidoscope (US) and played with Jackson Brown on all his early albums. I really like his music. I think I'll go online and find some to listen to. I know I won't have to pay $120 for it. Maybe I'll take the $1 I saved for bus fare and buy a 1/2 a cigar.
