So yeah...  Here it is six days after losing power from Hurricane Ike and it's still out.  Not the end of the world since I still have water, but it's kind of weird doing everything by candlelight and not really having hot meals unless you can find one of the five restaurants in the area that are actually open.  The best part, though, is the power company's estimate of "some time after Monday" for my power to actually be restored.  Really?  Some time after Monday?  You mean like "October?"  Yeah...

Things are still kind of crappy.  Most stop lights are still out.  More than half of the city is still without power.  The mayor said to expect gas shortages and lines at least until October.  Stores and restaurants are mostly still running on generator power and are closing at 7pm.  The city still has a curfew that runs through Monday.

Strange days indeed, but I'm still here keeping it real.  =)  Hopefully I'll have a chance to start posting photos of the damage.  It's pretty intense...
