Since one is the town doctor and the other a preacher, and since both have wives, and children, this creates more than a few problems. A third man caught in the sting complicates matter further: he thinks they should all enter a guilty plea and become gay heroes. Comic and compelling! Nov 14 (Sat) - Call Me Malcolm Film Tour and Panel Presentation
(Plymouth Church UCC , 2860 Coventry Rd, Coventry, OH 44120) 5 PM - 7 PM. A documentary feature about a transgender seminary student and his struggle with faith, love, and gender identity. Equality Ohio and local faith communities will host a film tour and panel presentation for the documentary Call Me Malcolm (www.callmemalcolm.com). The documentary follows Malcolm on his journey through seminary as a transgender student. Malcolm was ordained into the United Church of Christ in 2004, and he presently serves as Associate Minister for Outreach at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His work is focused on the transformation and wholeness of Christian communities across society’s dividing lines. Following the film, Malcolm will join the community in a panel conversation. ***The Ohio Council of Churches voted unanimously last week to support the Equal Housing and Employment Act (HB 176) which would provide non-discrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity to Ohioans. This film and the panel discussion are very timely with this important decision by one of Ohio's leading faith organizations. The Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Organization for Women will present the film For The Bible Tells Me So on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00 PM in the Multipurpose room of the Frank G. Pogue Student Center on the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania campus.

This award winning documentary focuses on five Christian families and how each handles the knowledge that one of their members is gay or lesbian. Their stories are juxtaposed with reflections from major biblical scholars as the film explores the intersection of religion and homosexuality in America today.

Following the screening there will be a discussion with audience members and a panel that includes Dr. Jerra Jenrette, chair of EUP's History and Anthropology Department, The Reverend Randolph Edwards, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Edinboro; and Dr. Richard McCarty, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Mercyhurst College.

Refreshments will be served.

This event is being co-sponsored by The NWPA Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, and Iota Iota Iota, the Women's Studies Honor Society at EUP.

Every year, on the third Thursday of November, smokers across the nation take part in the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout® by smoking less or quitting for the day on the third Thursday of November. The event challenges people to stop using tobacco and helps make people aware of the many tools they can use to quit for good. Studies show that smoking rates are higher in the GLBT community, for a number of reasons.
