Who Gives Kudos:

Recently I have felt a stirring in my spirit. Could it be that we are entering another season where the Church is almost pregnant with the purposes of God? A new season where the life of the Kingdom of God will break into our world again? It's not time for another Messiah - He already came, lived, died and rose from the dead! I'm talking about another release of the rule and reign of God - a season where we expect the things which Jesus released in the first century to come back into focus with authority and love. And if ever we needed the reign of God, it's now!

The earth is groaning under the weight of natural disasters. The economies of the world are being shaken. Peoples individual lives are ravished by addictions and rebellion.

It's time for the reign of God!

Steve Mitchinson and I were on one of our Mayne Island songwriting retreats. And after a couple of days of writing and sharing hearts we were almost out of time, and Steve said, "We have time for one more.... What do you want to write about?" To be honest, I felt done. I didn't have the energy to write anymore. I felt completely uncreative. But when your friend has faith and energy for one more, you go for it and do one more!

I pulled out a file of songwriting ideas and my eyes fell on a phrase that I had written down earlier that year. All that was on the paper was one phrase:

It's time for the reign of God

As soon as I spoke the words out loud, I knew - this needs to be sung now! So I opened my mouth in faith and started to try and find the melody and rhythm that matched the phrase, and within moments I had the core idea and we were off. It's amazing how revelation and creativity can wake me up from my lethargy! And when I get singing about the Kingdom of God I get excited. I get focused. The reign of God is the only hope for this broken and thirsty world!

Brian!!!!!..... I've never seen you excited... :)

Blessings to you and your family my friend.

This song became a hit in our northern Alberta city last sunday. We couldn't get the words or the music out of our head once we bought the new CD so we knew it would possibly be the same for others. Usually when our worship team introduces a new song in the worship service, it takes a few weeks for the congregation to connect, but not this time!I am writing to pass on the encouragement that we received which really belongs to you. It has become a favorite:) Never stop! We can't wait for Breakforth 2009 to hear it in real.
