Being that we're a band that lives in different cities now. I thought I'd give you an update on what we're upto (cause we all do a lot of different stuff, and we wish we could do more October Trio, but its just not in the cards as much as we would like.)

Just read a John Zorn interview in Jazz Times. Worth it. Its intense, I don't think how he does it is for everyone. But man, the level of passion and dedication he brings to his thing is something to shoot for thats for sure. I mention that as a precursor to this blog, letting you know what we're all upto these days (not as much as Zorn thats for sure, but we're doing out best).

Evan: Evan is in Europe and NYC playing some trad music festivals (traditional jazz). He's gone for a month leaving me the lone Vancouver hold out.

Josh (me): Its not like I'm sitting aroud with nothing to do. Right now I'm taking a quick breather from working on my indie/art rock (whatever you want to call it) band's record (Here Is What Is). Pretty much thats all I'm doing this month. I think I need to get out more. I'm getting to play some guitar and keys and write some string stuff. So yea, fun!

Dan: Dan is in Toronto making a name for his band stoptime (their awesome, I love them, check it out!). I've seen them have more gigs in the last month or so that anyone promoting gigs on facebook (yes, thats how I measure gigs).

but that being said.... we're all thinking and e-mailing eachother all the time about this band. After the gig at the Center (thanks Coastal Jazz!) with Brad (it will be our last gig with Brad). We are planning on hiding out for 3-4 days at Evan's grandpa's cabin on Gabriola Island where we'll workshop/rehearse new music (eat good food and drink good espresso and beer) with the focus back shifting back to the trio (which we're starting to write now - and will write between now and then). Then we're going to play a couple of dates in Vancouver and Calgary and start building from there.

So yea, one thing I think we're all learning is how much we enjoy the process. With "Snow" it was two years of writing music, gig's, throwing away music we got board of, and developing a sound that we documented last summer. And it was great.

So now that that's coming to a close, time for a new process.

So CHEERS! to the process, to working on (and out) stuff, haning out as a band and as friends, growing as musicians, as a band, and taking just as much delight in the process as in the finished product.
