In a rapidly changing world POP magazine is a LEADER not a follower. POP has been touted as a "super glossy", with an established reputation for visual innovation and SPLENDOR. Fashion and its related universe is a prism through which so much of contemporary CREATIVITY, as well as the evolving celebrity culture, ends up being refracted. But fashion also reflects many universal human DESIRES and DREAMS that hold the key to making sense of a world where the only certainty now is CHANGE. POP is the magazine the international catwalk CREATIVES look to for a fresh perspective on all that is new and truly exciting in work, leisure and TRAVEL. It celebrates ART, design, retail, ADVENTURE, pop culture, pop music and much more in our rapidly shifting world. POP is smart and it looks to celebrate both interior spaces and outerspace. Change is good, change is inevitable, change is NOW.
POP will not want to be seen as just a magazine - but a media carrier, a curator, an authoritative voice in popular modern culture, but most of all a strong modern brand. This translates most notably into an ambitious in house online platform. The new POP believes that there is more opportunity in leveraging the scale of the Web than trying to create scarcity. The ethos of the Internet: “free, fast, interaction, often and many” could in many ways be seen as the antithesis of a glossy, sumptuous, exclusive and highly edited fashion biannual. To the new POP this will, however, be the perfect synthesis.
THEPOP.COM, launched during May, providing an integrated platform which will form a key role in POP’s future developments. Conceived and built by a dedicated in-house team, the website will complement the magazine by providing a wider 'landscape' in which a cutting-edge international bi-annual glossy magazine can happily exist and also provocatively interact. thepop.com will provide a fascinating insight into the creation of each issue but, more importantly, it will reflect the Pop team's creative outlook and ongoing projects as well as functioning as a truly international platform through which the wider Pop audience can fully express itself. Collaboration and interaction will be encouraged by a passionate, internet-focused team at thepop.com's new London office. This is where the Pop manifesto of Global Change really takes shape and the stars of the future get an immediate opportunity to shine.
THEPOP.COM, will be both an online content platform for the magazine, as well as a mixed media carrier and blogging network for POP’s chosen contributors, guests and partners. THEPOP.COM will function as a workshop, with the task of functioning as a plant school or a virtual refrigerator, deployed to find out which spaghetti will stick and which won’t. If tagliatelle is the tune of the day, THEPOP.COM will feature it not only online but in the magazine. THEPOP.COM will also function as an omni-medial machine, perfectly tuned to compeer the physical magazine, utilising each media at what it does best - the ultimate link between traditional and new media.
