Now this is a very serious topic..As I plan to undergo this procedure in about 3 weeks. This will change my life irreversibly..I am so very excited, nervous, terrified, and hopeful. What will it be like???? How will I feel???? My best friend had this surgery in January and has lost 110lb. this is way awesome, how will my surgery go, what will my story be??? Have any of you all been here? Will you share your story with me? Will you give me encouragement, support, direction? There are a number of reasons I have made this decision, all of which are valid, well thought out, reasonable, issues. However I am still uncertain to an extent, as I am a Nurse and have seen the good, bad, and really bad outcomes of this surgery. So please, if anyone has any comments please share.. I would appreciate it.

Hi..I have been thru the surgery..I had it on June 26th in Huntington. To date I have lost 85 lbs. The surgery itself went well. I have had some serious issues with throwing up. Things seem to be better now. I am actually able to keep most things down now. My hair has fallen out quite a bit and I sure hope that stops soon cuz i didnt have alot ot begin with. Protein and Vitamins as I am sure you know will help with that. I wish you the best of luck and a great start to the new journey you are about to start...Christine

Speaking of lost hair. I had a gastric bypass in 1994. lost 130 lbs. however, i gained 30 lbs but i still enjoy my body as long as i keep execrise and swim. The surgeon stated that many patients tend to gain the some pounds after 10 years (wean out). No wonder because it was 12 years. My hair became thicker after lost some.

Keep it up!

Kelly

Make sure and keep me and Becky up to date and let us know when you have this done so we can check up on you.  Everything will be fine, just be patient and don't push yourself too hard and if you have any questions or concerns make sure that you ask away, it is you having the procedure and you need to be as comfortable and at ease as possible.  Take care.

Hi,my name is Chris, and  I had it done on 11-30-04.I had the excess skin removed on 11-07-06 (25 lbs).I started at around 520 lbs and am now 240 lbs.I live in Ashland currently and work for CSX.Good luck and I hope everything goes the way you want it.If you want to talk, leave a message, though I'm a little slow with computers,I'll try. Dr. Wheeler did the bypass and Dr.Rogers did the skin removal--both at K D M C in Ashland.
