We're back to working on our 2nd CD, but I took a little time to touch up my last re-master of "Guts Before Glory" first. Here is the history of the various versions of the first CD that a lot of you have:
The first batch of CD's we sold to ya'll were made on a standard home CD burner. Unfortunately, it was set up so that the copies did not sound as good as the We'remaster, but that was the best we could do at the time. These had CD labels stuck to them that looked pretty good, but that sticky label is the sign that you don't have a very good copy of the CD. Also, I stopped sending out CD's with the label because the label makes the CD a little thicker, and they stuck in some car CD players and caused people major headaches. If this is the version you have and you still listen to the CD, I would highly recommend ordering a re-master from me. It sounds a lot better! Also, I wouldn't recommend playing that copy in any car CD player. Sorry folks! I had no idea at the time I sent them out that they would become such a problem.
After releasing the first batch of CD's, I finally got a good computer and CD burner and started making copies that sounded as good as the original master. This was an improvement over the first batch, but since our first studio was not very good, it still left me less than satisfied. If you have one of these, my new re-master is better because:
After purchasing Mackie's Tracktion studio software, I finally had a professional level studio! I didn't have time to completely re-mix the first CD, but I did have time to re-master it with the new studio. I was not able to change the mix, but I was able to fix compression and overall level problems, along with EQing it better. I was also able to cut down the white noise a lot. The result is a noticeably better sounding CD! I feel bad that so many of you have inferior-sounding copies that I am now offering a special deal to all of you fine folks! If you send me a mere $2 to cover my cost, I will send a copy of the re-master with no packaging. You can then use it to listen to our CD and keep your old copy to play frisbee with. If you don't have a copy or would just like a completely new CD with full packaging, send $13 and you will get the whole works with the new higher quality recording. Also if you want to hear rough versions of our newest 3 songs, I will include them on the CD for free. Just keep in mind that we are re-recording all three and the versions on our 2nd CD will be superior in almost every way. However, if you're curious, it will give you an idea of how slow and tedious making good music is. For us at least, we have had to re-record many of our songs 2 or more times before they really are as good as they can be, and are ready for final release. I'm not one of those artists who can just go into the studio and throw down a bunch of new songs and have them come out right the first time. I really have to agonize over them and decide they're not good enough and start all over again to make them good enough for ya'lls listening pleasure. It is way too hard for may of you to come up with the money to buy a completed CD for you to blow your money on second-rate work. The first CD is still not perfect, but I am now reasonably satisfied that it is really worth listening to.
Keep your noses to the grindstone and keep fighting the good fight!
See ya bye. Deranged delivery driver Dan.
