Years ago when I worked for the TV network the Station Manager was advising me that advertising revenue was down and there'd be cut backs. I asked him why he thought it was so. He said he just didn't understand it. I reminded him that the news department was always telling the population – including the advertisers – that things were bad and they needed to tighten up. "In fact' I told him, "we are the main source of our own downturn."

He said, "I've never thought about it like that!"

Anyway, have you noticed how things have got neither worse nor better while th eworld economy has taken Christmas week off?
