Stone Temple Pilots have been tapped to kick off the newly created St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Hope Show.

The charity concert, which will take place July 1 at L.A.’s House of Blues, was co-created by Jason Thomas Gordon, the grandson of St. Jude founder and TV icon Danny Thomas, and Total Live Music’s Tom Carolan.

Joining STP for the evening are Gordon and his band, Kingsize, who just released a pair of EPs, The Good Fight and The Bad Night.

Scott Weiland had this to say about being chosen to inaugurate the charity event:

“We are humbled, honored and filled with grace by being given this very special opportunity. To be asked to play the first of what we hope will be many of these events for children in dire medical needs at St. Jude Rock n Roll show. Reading the press release I am almost embarrassed as it lists accolades of a life of music. The good life. What the rest speaks of is the horrible but true realities that those diseases bring to children and these families.”

Tickets for the show go on sale through Ticketmaster on June 6 at 10am PDT and are $67.50 each plus tax. All proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

In addition to working to find cures and save children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases, St. Jude is also the only pediatric cancer research center that provides free care for children whose families are not covered by insurance.

Complete information on St. Jude and its mission is available at StJude.org.

I am a longtime fan of you and STP. I am a member of the STP fan club where I pay 45.00 per year etc.... I recently tried to buy tickets to the STP show at HOB Sunset Strip at 11:00am Saturday June 6th. (Only 30 minutes after they went on sale). According to ticketmaster, they were sold out. I called and made sure.

This wasn't a big deal until I then quickly logged onto Stubhub.com to see if possible there was anything on there and there were at least 30 tickets available for that show. (30 MINTUES AFTER THEY WENT ON SALE AT TICKETMASTER)for shitloads more money. (Double or more)

I am not emailing for anything personally, I just wanted you to know that there are people buying up your tickets and reselling them for WAY more money instantly. I do not know how that is happening etc but it is. I think this is a HUGE dis-service to your fans....

Thought you may want to know....

Loyal Fan Dan - Los Angeles
..I had the pleasure of seeing you guys twice on this summer tour, once in Cincinnati and again in Atlantic City. I also was fortunate to be at two shows on the first reunion tour. The reunion tour was incredible, but let me just applaud the whole band because somehow you were able to outdo yourselves on the latest tour. In Atlantic City, STP sounded absolutely flawless and amazing. The whole band was tight. Kretz's timing was perfect, and Robert layed down some awesome bass as usual. Dean, being the only guitar player somehow manages to fill the sound out like there were two guitarists, and Scott sounded the absolute best I've ever witnessed in the 6 times I've seen him perform on stage. That show was something that my brother and I will never forget. Thank you guys so much for working hard to put on the best live show I have EVER seen...
