I feel I have misled you, and I am moved by the many messages of concern and sympathy you have sent me, to just set the record straight - when I said there are songs about middle-aged divorce, no, I wasn't referring to my own. The last couple of years have seen so many of my close friends and family heading for the divorce courts that I couldn't help but write about it (sorry, that is one of the perils of being friends with a songwriter). The truth is that not only have I not got divorced this year, I have in fact got married. Yes, you do know who to. A twenty seven year engagement may seem cautious to some of you, but I think in these uncertain times, it is as well to be sure of someone before you make any rash commitments.
So stop worrying, the divorce bit isn't about me. Sadly, the middle-aged bit is.
