A Political Pork Bar B Que


Mayor Glover plans to turn previously allocated bond money into political pork for easy access and unauthorized spending. This is in reference to: Proposition No.2 (Parks and Recreation) Citizens' Bond Issue which was approved by the Shreveport City Council February 13, 1996 (Resolution No.16 of 1996) and approved by the registered voters of Shreveport in a special election held April 20, 1996. The initial allotted funding for this project was $1,845,000.00. Currently, in the 2009 Capital Improvements Budget there is $1,334,000.00 available for this project to be completed. This project is for a Park in the Ledbetter Heights neighborhood. The verbiage in reference to this project on the city budget has even changed since the Glover administration has taken office. Through changing the wording on this bond issue project which by the way is illegal sets up Mayor Glover’s pork bar b que party. Maybe, he will invite some of his buddies over to the pork bar b que and make a real bash out of it. Cederick Glover looked me and others in the eye and said “There will be a park in Ledbetter Heights”. He even went on to say, “I was part of the process which made this bond issue become law” during his various governmental positions. I hope his administration is not proposing any new bond issues to the tax payers. It would be hard for one to have faith in the implementation of the proposed services contained in the bond. Sitting on the sidelines one can see that this administration lacks vision, hard work, and leadership. I don’t think this administration can think its way out of a half eaten potato chip bag.


I’m not just talking. I have a plan for Ledbetter Heights which will make this neighborhood become the next Music Mecca of the South and restore its cultural significance and dignity. This plan may also help save the film industry here in Shreveport as well.
