DAVE POMEROY UPDATE - August 13, 2009
Hello there! It's been quite a while since we e-blasted the world with the latest news from Dave Pomeroy and Earwave Music.
First and foremost, on August 1st, I started to move back into my rebuilt house, 7 months after the house fire that pretty much destroyed the place and took the life of my dog, Duke. Many thanks to all of you who have been so supportive during this very intensely emotional time in my life. I am very grateful to have so many friends. We have made some pretty major changes to the upper floor and the improvements are fantastic. The studio will be renamed "Duke's Den" and is now happily home to my longtime engineer and best pal Dave Sinko's studio gear, so the upgrade to the studio is pretty significant on a couple of levels. It feels good to be home again!
My new job as President of the Nashville Musicians Association has kept me incredibly busy, but I am pleased to say that (Local 257 Secretary/Treasurer) Craig Krampf and I are working hard to make a difference and Local 257 is moving into the future! It has been a challenge to lead this organization while literally rebuilding my life, but the dual effort has been more than worth it - we are getting new (and younger) members coming in to join, and some former members are coming back as well. The new website will be launched in a few weeks and will be the real turning point in our efforts to cast the Musicians Union as problem solvers ready to offer meaningful services to members.
Thankfully, making music is still a big part of my life, and I've never enjoyed it more! This Friday, August 14th I am hosting a "Writers In the Round" show at Douglas Corner. My guests are The Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Paco Shipp, and Guthrie Trapp. They are all friends of mine and incredibly talented. I have just finished producing a new CD for the Sweethearts, Kristine Arnold and Janis Oliver. The "Sisters" will be playing some of the new songs and we are all very excited about the project. Paco, who has 2 cds out on Earwave Records, is coming up from North Carolina and will blow your mind with his incredible harmonica playing, great songs and soulful singing. Joining us will be guitarist Guthrie Trapp, who continues to set Nashville on its ear with his hot licks and versatile range of styles. We will have a blast! Hope you will join us...
Three Ring Circle is preparing to finally start out second album very soon in my studio. We just got back from a week at the Rockygrass Festival in Lyons Colorado, where we taught for 4 days and played the opening day of the bluegrass festival. What a treat - an incredible setting for music and a bunch of great folks. I am also on Tommy Emmanuel's new CD as well as Beth Nielsen Chapman's new project.
2009 has already been a year I will never forget, and I have learned many lessons in life and music that I feel sure will stay with me forever. Thanks to all of you for your friendship and love. I feel very fortunate and humbled by your support and wish all of you the best!
