WHIGGER: short for white nigger; derogatory term used for suburban white teens who carry themselves differently than their intended race.
We've all heard this term.. some of you might have had the term directed at you. Shit, I've been called this term several times in my life. Some may not find this word offensive at all (especially if you're not white) but regardless of color, it should still offend you.
Example: A white woman walks down the street & sees a young white kid standing at the corner with baggy clothing on and speaking with an accent, using slang terminology and sounding "uneducated". She walks past him and calls him a "whigger". She's calling him a white nigger.. or "trying to be black". So basically, she's saying that all black people are uneducated & wear unfitting clothes. Black people I know don't get offended by this term, but they should.
Growing up around those of other races & being influenced so heavily by hip-hop, I have been associated with that word everywhere I go. My question is: when did someone's upbringing and/or fashion statements have anything to do with race? You ever watch that episode of Fresh Prince when they wouldn't let Carlton into an all-black fraternity because he wasn't "black enough"?? Since when did all white people wear polo sweaters & listen to Barry Manilow?? It's sad to see America's racially-charged stereotypes affect everyone's perception of those around them. The day I have to act a certain way based on the color of my skin is the day T-Pain can actually sing.
