boxes strewn on the floor papers from a time before when outcomes were attached to futures hidden in the past
a black trash barrel stands guard just in case the mind detaches from dreams of the longest yard measured hopes lost by inches
who needs fears and resentments stored in cardboard memories moments spent trying to please slaves master of codependency?
right outside the kitchen door comes the weekly garbage truck boxes slide across the floor time to give up ifs and buts
cardboard memories... (c) jim cole 10302009
