ALBUM REVIEW: Goldfarb's "Up To My Neck" a must-have for purists
By David Malachowski

..............................

Delmark Goldfarb of Portland, Ore., is a singer, songwriter and guitarist and a bit of a blues historian. His nine-song CD even sports guest appearances by Woodstock legend John Sebastian (on harmonica) as well as North Mississippi Allstars’ Cody Dickinson on drums.

Goldfarb’s aching raspy voice just floats over finger picked acoustic guitar in “Shoot the Angels Down."

This fare is infectious – David Bromberg comes to mind, as does maybe Dan Hicks. “I Need Your Love” actually swings, powered by slide guitar and brushes and Goldfarb’s laconic verses and lazy voice. Other highlights include “Don’t Bring Me No Flowers” and “Portable Man.”

The album is a must-have for purists.
