Well, what can I say... if you weren't there you really missed out! Red Rocks! was back with its first show of the year and what a show it was. We had six gorgeous snow angels to warm you up in the winter weather and I think everyone was rosy when they left – although that might be partially from the cocktails. Those who were there were treated to an all blonde themed night but also one that will stick in my head as one of the most bizarre and funny Red Rocks! nights ever.
Not only did we have the delightful company of Bella Besame, Cherryfox, Diva Hollywood, Ditzy Diamond, Leigh Mon Meringue and Suzie Sequin. The usual suspects in the shape of El Kapitan and our music man, Jaybles, we also had impromptu performances by members of the audience and Island barmen.
There was also a strange fascination with shoes from the hosts of other Brum burly nights. Poor El Kapitan was ordered to remove his shoes.... fortunately he had clean and, more shockingly, MATCHING socks on.
I can quite honestly say I don't think I have ever laughed that much at a burly night. What with Ditzy’s performing pussy, Leigh’s fantastic side effect to drinking poison, Bella’s tipsy balloon pop antics and Divas demanding black swan! But we were also treated to Suzie’s effortless grace and glamour and the sultry styling of Cherryfox.
A huge thank you to Tip Top Photography (Website and Myspace) for the photos of the evening, which will be loaded on here and then the website in the next few days. Looking at the photos I think it is worth mentioning that Red Rocks! is starting to build a reputation for one of the messiest burlesque nights around. The amount of glitter and feathers left afterwards on a normal night is something else but when we have the likes of Ivy Paige (August 08) and Bella Besame (Jan 09) on the stage with their cake and cocktail acts…. Well, I will leave that to your imagination.
We were also very lucky to have our very own cocktails this time round and after sampling the “Blonde Bombshell” and “Red Rocks!” very thoroughly, I can confirm that they are very, very tasty and more-ish! I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with in May.
Speaking of the next night in May, as it will be the 1st Birthday of Red Rocks! we thought that maybe you guys would like to be more involved with what goes on that night. So get in touch and let us know who you have seen over the past year that you want to see again and the performers with the most interest we will get back on stage for you.
