I'm off to see the wizard. Well, not the wizard but my local house representative to discuss health care reform. I should be there around 12 noon on Wednesday August 12th.

I think everybody should visit or call their rep or congressmen regarding health care reform. So far the "town hall meetings" regarding this issue have been turned into screaming matches and lynch mobs of "right wing activists". There is one coming up on the 31st at CNU, so I'm told. I'm not going to get in a screaming match with some of the so called "patriot protesters". No sense in it. I'd rather go and have a quiet conversation with the staffers at my rep or congressmen's office. I intend to bring photos of my friends who are suffering under the current system we have now. 2 are dying of cancer and can't afford their bills that insurance doesn't pay.
I'm not going to pretend that I have the answers on this problem. I don't. I know that when the government gets involved in anything, it tends to be a burecratic disaster. I know that the system we have now is not “the best system in the world” as some have been brainwashed to believe. The number 1 cause of bankruptcy in the US is medical bills. There are over 40 million people without health insurance (weather by choice or not, we ALL pay for it). Part of the reason health care premiums are going up is to cover the cost of the uninsured. I have friends who are dying because they can’t afford the bills that insurance doesn’t pay.
Do I think we are better off with more people insured? Yep. Do I know how to go about it? Nope.
