Angel City was one of my regular weekend haunts in high school. Many of us would come listen to bands like Peniel and Soulwax, get a couple drinks and sit around talking in Friendship Square down the street (which has since been removed with a fountain, Starbucks and Subway put in).

I have so many great memories of youth spent here.

At the time it was Christian-owned, with Christians coming to volunteer their time to work there, and yes, featuring Christian bands, and though I more considered myself agnostic, I was never treated like an outsider and was always accepted with open arms.

The murals that fill the establishment are absolutely amazing. At the back, near the drink counter and rear exit, it's the planets and cosmos, in other parts it's water flowing from the rock.

I, myself, haven't visited Angel City in a few years now, but once in a while I look back and ache to return.

I was told Angel City Cafe is a Christian owned place where Christian singers and bands can share their music and word in a very intimate setting.  It is an unassuming cafe in what I think is Downtown Bellflower.  I am no audiophille by any means, but if you are there for worship, song, and to celebrate your faith, this is a wonderful place to do it.  They do have a snack bar in the back which has moderate pricing and a decent menu.  I simply came here to see a friend perform and WOW!  I would definitely return to the Angel City Cafe.

This is a great place for people of all ages - families, youths, etc. My son has been hanging out there since high school (8 years ago) and I have never worried about him when he was there. Wonderful Christian venue.
