So there we were. At Woodstock. Two against two thousand. Man, did we fuck those two up...

As a performer, you can't not dig Woodstock. They treat you like kings (well, maybe barons), they give you little gift bags... Very proffessional. Nice. As a member of the Horde... I don't know. There've been complaints but most people dug it. That car ban was wierd though. Don't fuck with peoples and their cars...

The bands were the bands. The good ones were good, the bad ones sucked ass. Me? On the one hand I'm a bit of a cynic: I don't like most bands... I don't NOT like them though, I'm just picky like that. Never been much of a fan. On the other hand, all types of music for all types of people. Don't judge bands on the type of music they play. Just because you don't like the genre doesn't mean it's kak! Take Prime Circle for example. I'm sick and tired of some alternative types dissing them. Fuck You. Have you seen them live? They're great guys, good musicians, and they Rock! Just because you don't like that type of rock doesn't mean they suck. I've seen jazz bands that suck and 'sokkie' bands that blew me away.

We must never confuse the aesthetic with the art. Just because we don't like something doesn't make it kak. All genres have good and bad artists. I like hip-hop but I think LL Cool Jay sucks, I don't like pop music but I reckon Justin Timberlake rules.

What I'm actually trying to say is this:

At the end of the day, festivals are festivals. For the performers, they're like musicians conventions where we all meet, and get to hang out, and socialise, and network, and try to impress our peers. For the audience it's like a cultural fair or exhibition. Actually, more like a religious or political mass rally. They come to celebrate there lifestyle, there music... there oneness

For a short while we are not the freaks and wierdos of the mainstream world; we are not the cultural black sheep of our 'McMusic'-indoctrinated  society.

For a short while

we are the People...

And we Rock.

The car issue really did bug me - mostly because the non-existent shuttle caused me to miss Arno and Myepic and Gyroscope and most of Wickhead!    But ja, festivals are nice for us non-mainstream lot.

What? You like Prime Circle? Are you also a fan of Creed then? Does Steve Hofmeyer turn you on? That bare-breasted drummer vibe is making a lot more sense now...

We are the people. Who matter, to us. And we rock ALL NIGHT LONG! It's the kinship we find in each other that makes us put up with shit from the extras for the rest of the time. Never mind the bollocks.
