I am proud to announce the release of Jazzmatazz Vol 4 The Hip Hop Jazz Messenger Back To The Future! In Europe/UK, So. Africa and Japan the album has been in stores since June 1st and in the US, Canada, Australia and Brazil the album will be in stores on July 31st! I am especially excited about this release as it is our second release from 7 Grand Records and one of my most powerful records of my career! Since Hip Hop today has been under attack by media forces and political entities concerning its violent imagery, mysoginistic points of view and overall negative influence on its audience, we at 7 Grand Records are here to confidently say that we are offering something fresh, new, positive and essential that will put a much better face on Hip Hop today and help to lead the culture into the future with creative intelligence and vision! This is definately the perfect time for Jazzmatazz 4 as we see so much widespread violence and dispair in our society from the incident at Virginia Tech to the constant Gang and Drug related crimes that plague our cities. The fact that our values have been reduced to chasing material goods and becoming "ballers and shot callers" etc, etc has played itself out along with the whole "bling" thing. Now a new consciousness is emerging in Hip Hop and 7 Grand Records, Jazzmatazz Vol 4, and Guru and Solar are at the forefront of this new movement and are catalyst of this new era in Hip Hop that is evolving! This new Jazzmatazz album will be embraced and supported by the important, influential industry powers such as BET, MTV, VH1 etc as well as independent outlets! The production by Solar on this project is some of the best of my career! Solar has done a stellar job under tough circumstances and has taken the Jazzmatazz legacy to new heights. Instead of folding, quitting or breaking down to negativity, he rose as the Sun to this occasion. I commend him on a job well done! The new video that he directed for "State Of Clarity" feat: Common and Bob James is a powerful creative work that exemplifies the vision of Solar, myself and 7 Grand Records. The video appeals to a wide audience and children can access this video without parents feeling uncomfortable about what they are seeing. At the same time the video is intelligent, cool and state of the art! Thats why he is called the "SuperProducer"! Jazzmatazz vol 4 is indeed some of my best work ever! All of the featured guests that we reached out to showed nothing but extreme admiration and respect for the Jazzmatazz legacy and expressed the desire to be a part of this great body of work without hesitation. We've got "big dawgs" in Jazz, R+B, Soul and Reggae on this album! We have a nice balance of legendary artists, contemporary greats as well as the up and coming stars of the future! This is what Jazzmatazz represents, the art of collaboration at its finest!
We dont have to try and put a big artist on a record so we can use that artist's popularity to boost our sales. We put the artist on the track who fits that track and who is going to take the song creatively where it needs to go! Jazzmatazz is a collection of collaborations with top level artists whose work we love and respect and who feel the same about us! This is indeed a star studded affair minus all of the ego and hoopla, just great music that everyone can enjoy from label that is committed to being at the forefront of positive change in Hip Hop!
