Meanwhile, in a galaxy far far away (erm, South East London), Fred Tectonic had taken a pic of Banksy's art in Creekside, Rocklands. He's also a DJ at Pretty Beat, the club on Deptford Broadway's Bubblegum Club. Funnily enough, another Rocklander, Rich Pack is also a DJ photographer (come producer!).

They put the finishing touches, artwork and mixing, to the aural excellence provided by 21 talents whose story is equally interwoven.

It's great to see everybody coming on since this compilation started to come together during All Fool's Month. Sadly, the offer of cash to press up the CD (and get it sold throughout Artful festival) fell by the wayside, so it's back to old school saving up to get this (damn good!) album out. In the mean time though, people are getting to hear it. DJs/Clubs/Venues like Dirty Sounds, Jane Deane, Duckie Music, Dirty South etc have been spinning it. Earwax Radio playing and interviewing the bands and most of all, music fans picking up on how special the bands are.

It may have only had one review a month so far, but they are most encouraging reactions! As is the feedback to seeing The Whirled Cup contenders live.

For instance, Nebraska launched their debut album "The Path To The Silent Country" to one of the most packed out crowds that London's Water Rat's Theatre has ever witnessed. William and Korova are firm favourites with Artrocker Magazine. Hey Gravity! have been picked up by a French label and are recording their album. The Fly magazine has been bigging up The Veez and Seeing Scarlet, and that's not the half of it. Chet's EP release is a sensation, they played outdoors with The Fairies and The Darling Reds at this year's People's Day Festival in Summer. The Darling Reds exploded on stage. Literally. RIP, but there's no taking away how great a soundtrack Brand New Ting is.

Lazyslave have now become Circus Of Magnesium Therapy and recorded new material. The Fairies are very much in demand and taken increasingly seriously. So they should be. They're a great rock band, but they also define the Art School movement that's fuelling the ever thriving New Cross anti scene. BBC sessions for The Needles, movie soundtracks for Jonny Lives!...

This is a real story. If you can review Once Upon Another Time, play it at DJ slots or, like the Good Ship, put it on your juke box, then drop a line. Can you offer rehearsal or demo time to the bands? If you are E&A&R instead of just A&R, then you could do worse for yourself than check out the Top Favourites on this MySpace....

Between September and December, The Whirled Cup Contenders have made their mark on Year 006.
