Every week Gibson Guitar's official MySpace picks somebody playing a Gibson guitar to be their Top Friend. Well I've been doing that for 40 years (!) so this week it is me! It's about time! LOL... seriously. It's really just a photo contest basically, but I'll take it.

Anywho, in the pic I am playing my new (2006) faded SG Special so I've posted a tune (Stepping Out) from our last gig of 2007 playing this very same guitar. It's actually quite nice for a budget model Gibson and sounds great. All I had to do to it was swap out the pickups & added Grover tuners.

Now if they'd just give me a red 335 block inlay reissue I'd be REALLY happy! A Trini Lopez would be nice too! (screw the Foo Fighters, this guitar is a Trini Lopez model) Even a Satin 335 would be cool.... do you know WHY a 335 is called a 335? Because it cost $335 when it was first issued!

BTW my original SG Standard turns 40 this year! Times flies when you're having fun! More on that later, but I think I'll have a birthday party for it. I am its only owner and got it in 1968 for only $225 including the case!
