Dear Internet,
NEW COPIES OF WILD SOUND IN THE WORKS We are completely out of the hand screened and numbered copies of WILD SOUND. So if you happen to be one of the 200 (198 really, had to keep 2 for ourselves!) who picked one up, consider yourself special.
Now, since we are in the business of getting the musics to the peoples, we are in the process of printing a wackload of new ones. Only this time we've changed the artwork on the inside and are printing at a proper printing press joint! If all goes well we'll have em by NXNE.
MONGREL ZINE INTERVIEW When we're not on stage sweating, drinking, rocking and hollering, we do our best to pull off some civilized conversation. Cue Dave O'Halleran of Radio What Wave fame and long time contributor to Vancouver's Mongrel Zine (The rockinest, grittiest, garageyest and bestest zine out there). Dave managed to listen to us blabbetty blab our way through his quesitons and had the whole thing printed up in the latest issue. Topics covered in the ramblings: Numerous influences, our first show, pizza, Detroit, forthcoming 7" with the Rue Moor Counts and The Deep Blues Festival....among many many other things.
So yeah, buy 30 copies of the zine and bury 29 for safe keeping. http://www.mongrelzine.ca/
THE PITTER PATTER FESTIVAL
Keith Hamilton created The Pitter Patter Festival a few years back as an alternative music festival made by and for musicians and bands. The PWYC festival, which was held May 28-31st this year, was coordinated over 4 days and 8 different cities and featured over 150 bands.
We played a few shows during the fest this year, but the highlight was definitely the 2 Sunday shows: Pedestrian Sunday and The Rearview. We set up our gear outside at 5pm just as the day was winding down in the market and rocked through our set. Playing outside has it's benefits, among which two are: Lots of people who dare not head into a dark venue at 1am get to hear you play and a nice crosswind to cool you down.
The show at Rearview was just as great, if not a different atmospere. Gone were the babies, old people and hippies of the outdoors... replaced with drunk friends and more drunk strangers. Drunk Woman and Changalang both put on a rockin set and joined us on stage not only to help solve our amp issues but also to provide a most rocking tambourine rhythm section. Mt. Royal from Alberta threw down some great tunes inbetween our sets - Kinda like a Tom Waits Man Man with soul - followed by Guelph's Cursed Arrows. Pretty damn great for a Sunday, I'd say.
Well, that's it. Now go play Dolphin Olympics 2 or something. Hope to see you at our NXNE showcase on Saturday June 20th.
