This weekend, I transported myself to Los Angeles.

....okay, so I didn't actually do that, but it was pretty badass to feel like I was for a weekend.  I spent my time listening to a ridiculous amount of 80's and 80's-inspired cock-rock and feeling great.  I got to dress in my horrible 80's atrocities (leopard pants, WHAT?!), and yes, folks...

I even bought a cowboy hat.  I'm now a cock-rock/glam metal cliche.  And it feels gooooooood.

On Friday night, Timm and I went over to Bourbon Street for the Charm City Devils' CD release party.  They're a Baltimore band who is on their way up since Nikki Sixx signed them to his record label.  They'll be on Cruefest 2 this year.

The first thing I did when I get there was buy my CD and harass the lead singer for a picture.

This is a pretty terrible picture of both of us.  Trust me - he usually looks HOT in pictures.

The opening band was not only awful, but WAYYYYYYYY too loud.  Yes, I know I'm getting older, but this was ridiculous.  Timm and I went outside through the opener when our ears started to ring, literally.

By the time Charm City Devils came on, my ears were actually starting to feel uncomfortable and muffled.  We made it through a few songs before I just had to leave.  We didn't even get to hear their single.  Boo.

All of the band's lighting was either RED or BLUE with very little in-between.  It made getting pictures rather difficult.  Ugh.

On Saturday, after a bit of running around, we made it to the M3 Rock Festival around 1:30 pm.  We missed a few bands (Gilby Clarke, Y&T, XYZ), but they weren't ones we were particularly "into".  Here are the ones we did get to see:

Slaughter

They were surprisingly pretty good.  I have to admit that I didn't know many of their songs, so I just listened for a while and then took the time to walk around.  It was good to just relax, grab some food, and shop for cowboy hats.  ;D

Jani Lane (from Warrant)

Jani Lane actually shocked the hell out of me.  His voice sounded amazing and he looked great!  (The last I had seen of him was on Celebrity Fit Club when he was grossly overweight and an alcoholic.)  He came into the crowd only about 5 feet from me, and I was slightly starstruck.  ;)

I got a short video of the 2nd verse of Heaven.  It has ALWAYS been one of my all-time favorite songs, and I admittedly got a bit misty-eyed when the opening chords started.

We skipped over Dokken to go right to...

STEEL PANTHER!!!!!!!!
Okay, review before pictures.  I was more excited about seeing Steel Panther than any other band there.  They're essentially a VERY talented band that are kind of a mockery of the hair/glam metal band scene.  They dress in brightly colored spandex, talk about all of the groupies they're going to fuck, and have songs that literally made me cry with laughter.

They did NOT let me down.  They were by FAR my day's highlight.  I can't wait to see them at The Key Club in LA when we go back in October.

Thus, there are a fuckton of pictures.  ;)

I can't even stop grinning just thinking about them.   :)

LA Guns
*ahem*  Kymmy, these are for you.  ;)

I thought LA Guns put on a decent show.  We hung around for most of it, but then the crowd started pushing a bit too much for my taste, so we ducked out and away.  I'm going to see them when they're in Baltimore again in September, though.

The best part about the LA Guns portion of the show?  I got to see my first, real-live groupies!  I've always had a thing about 80's hair metal groupies, and yes, I know this is not the popular opinion, but part of me has always fantasized about being one.  LOL  Anyone who knows me knows I would never actually go slutting around like that, but it's fun to fantasize.  ;)

Seriously.  These gals probably had a decade on me, but their bodies were TIGHT as hell.  I was jealous.

You could almost see the powder flaking off of this one's face.  She actually had "L*A* GUNS" tattooed on her knuckles.

Love, love, LOVED this one's jacket.  I smell a DIY project coming my way.

There was another ultimate groupie at the show, but I couldn't get a picture of her.  Suffice to say: NO exaggeration, but EACH of her tits was the size of a very large watermelon, and her waist was thin in comparison.  Oh, her tits were shiny, too.

Oh, and Kymmy, here's the Ty-look-a-like:

Extreme

Extreme was another band that BLEW me away.  They had amazing energy, LOOKED fantastic and sounded even better.  Again, I got a bit misty when they played More Than Words.

Ratt

So hard to get a good picture of Ratt. Doh!!!  As always, they were fan-fucking-tastic.  Rocked my ass off.  ;)

Twisted Sister

Dee Snider NEVER fails to amaze me.  You'd think this man was still in his 20s with the way he's running and jumping around the stage.  His voice sounds the same as it did in 1984 and he's just fucking amazing.  I love that man.  Seriously.

So yes, I know that this kind of thing isn't everyone's cup of tea, but oh, I had a blast.  ;D  Cock Rock makes me so happy.
