On May 5, 2008, Cinco de Mayo the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and Galavision was in Miami (Doral), at Anta's Fitness and Self Defense. Galavision's Carlos Calderon interviewed UFC fighter Roger Huerta for "Acceso Maximo" and "El Gordo y La Flaca" TV shows. This interview in Acceso Maximo will air on Thursday, May 8, at 9 PM and the segment in El Gordo y La Flaca will air also on May 8, at 4 PM.
The UFC was the first MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) organization and today it is still the most successful and most recognized MMA organization in the world. MMA is the fastest growing sport surpassing boxing in pay-per-view ratings. Roger is one of the UFC's most viscous light weight fighter. Yet, in person he is a very charismatic and likable person. Anta's Fitness and Self Defense's MMA instructor and Cuban National Wrestling and Sambo champion Isidro Alfonso and Judo/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor, 5 X National Brazilian, 8 X International and Olympic alternate in Judo, Regis Lemos both had the honor of being Roger's training partners for the filming. This segment can be seen on Acceso Maximo on Thursday, May 8, at 9 PM.
After the filming UFC Director of Public Relations Jennifer Wenk took me, Roger, his trainer and Univision executives to lunch. I would like to thank Maria Cristina Alarcon, Univision, Galavision producer for bringing the UFC to our training center. I would also like to thank the UFC, Jennifer Wenk and Roger Huerta's for a great time. They are a class act.
