Ciao a tutti sono Andrea chitarrista/cantante degli El-Thule.
E' con estremo orgoglio che ho il piacere di annunciare finalmente la nascita della B-Tone: il sogno che ormai da anni cercavo di realizzare è finalmente vivo!
Il progetto B-Tone nasce con l'intento di creare un punto di riferimento per tutti coloro che amano e suonano un certo tipo di musica estrema: che sia stoner, metal, doom, sludge, grind... in qualsiasi caso una musica vera, che nasce dal cuore e dalla dedizione e che fonda le sue basi su un suono distruttivo, ribassatissimo e dannatamente heavy. L'idea è quella di sfornare prodotti di qualità, costruiti dai musicisti per i musicisti, e accessibili a tutti. Molto spesso i prodotti cosi detti "di marca" sono costruiti seguendo delle specifiche standard che sono rimaste inalterate negli anni, ma i sistemi di amplificazione, e sopratutto il modo di intendere la musica, sono cambiati e cosi' anche gli strumenti devono evolversi...cercare nuove strade.
Questo è quello che la B-Tone si è proposta di fare: strumenti strettamente legati al passato ma proiettati nel futuro, nella musica heavy di oggi.
Il progetto B-Tone seguirà quindi una specifica ideologia proponendo strumenti appositamente creati per le accordature ribassate in uso oggi e rigorosamente in finitura "all black", diciamo che sarà una sorta di marchio di fabbrica: chiunque ne possederà o ne vedrà una saprà esattamente di che cosa si tratta...devastazione sonora assoluta!!!
Il primo progetto messo in atto è una sorta di Les Paul costruita pero' seguendo piu' il vecchio modello Ibanez Set Neck piuttosto che quello di una Gibson vera e propria. La chitarra è quindi stata costruita con corpo in mogano (però meno spesso di uno Gibson) e top in acero sottilissimo: questo comporta un suono sicuramente piu' frizzante, acustico e soprattutto meno denso e quindi con minore tendenza ad "impastarsi" con distorsioni elevate ed accordature estremamente basse. Il manico set-in è anch'esso in mogano, con tastiera in palissandro, ma presenta un profilo meno "cicciotto" di una Gibson, questo per risultare piu' maneggevole e far affaticare meno il polso. Inoltre è stato costruito con una moderna scala da 25,5" a 24 tasti. Questo presenta due vantaggi e cioè la possibilità di accordare la chitarra piu' in basso senza avere la sensazione delle corde troppo molli sotto le mani e l'accesso a due ottave complete.
Avrei potuto optare per una scala baritono da 28"/29"/30" ma molte persone non abituate con queste scale le trovano un po troppo scomode, faticose e legnose da suonare. La chitarra è stata poi equipaggiata con i migliori componenti sul mercato: meccaniche Grover Rotomatics, ponte Gotoh, strap-lock Schaller e toggle switch made in Japan con contatti dorati.
Particolare attenzione è stata poi dedicata alla scelta dei pickups: dopo anni passati a provare ogni tipo di pickup, Gibson/Duncan/Dimarzio/Voodoo, su un infinità di chitarre ho finalmente capito cosa deve avere un pickup per far suonare bene uno strumento ribassato e cioè:chiarezza, attacco e dinamica estrema. Senza queste tre cose il suono che ne risulterà sarà comunque impastato, piatto e uscirà poco dal mix.
I pickup che ho deciso di installare sono prodotti a mano in Inghilterra e sono composti da un magnete ceramico ed uno alnico affiancati, sono estremamnte cristallini, definiti ed allo stesso tempo potenti ed enormi!!!Questi permettono alla chitarra di avere un suono veramente selvaggio e devastante al ponte ma consentono anche di poter avere uno dei suoni piu' anni '70, fuzzy, acidi e heavy blues possibili al manico e di avere una vera miscela di questi due suoni in posizione intermedia.
La chitarra uscirà dalla fabbrica accordata in A to A e monterà corde Ernie Ball di scalatura grossa.
Se le cose poi andranno come spero, il futuro porterà altre chitarre stile SG e Strato, bassi, overdrive-fuzz ed amplificatori...insomma un sacco di idee da sviluppare insieme!

I am pleased to announce the birth of the B-Tone brand: the dream of my life finally exsist!
I founded the B-Tone project with the intent to create a point of reference for all those who love and play a certain kind of extreme music: you can call it stoner, metal, doom, sludge, grind ... in any case, a real music, that comes from the heart and dedication and that bases its foundation on a destructive sound with lowered tunings and damn heavy.
The main idea is to build hi-quality instruments, studied by a musician for musicians and accessible to all.
Very often the famous brand products born according to some specific standards that are always the same over the years. We all know that , for example, the amplification systems (like the understanding of music) changed in the last 20 years…I think that also the instruments need to evolve…looking for new roads. This is what the B-Tone project want to do: to create instruments closely related to the past but projected into the future, into the heavy music of today. The B-Tone project will therefore follow a specific ideology proposing instruments especially designed for lowered tunings in use today. The "all black" trimming it will be a sort of trademark: anyone who have or see a B-Tone instrument will know exactly what we’re talking about...an absolutely devastating sound!!!
The first project is a kind of Les Paul guitar but designed following more the old Ibanez Set Neck model than the real Gibson. The guitar has been therefore constructed with mahogany body, less thicker than a Gibson, and with thin maple top: this implies a definitely more crisp and acoustic sound with less tendency to be muddy with extreme and heavy distortion and lowered tunings.The set-in neck is also in mahogany, with rosewood fingerboard but it has a more thin profile than a gibson to be more manageable and less tiring to play. It has been built with a modern 25.5 " scale and with 24 frets, this have two advantages: the ability to tune the guitars more down without the feeling of the strings too soft under the hands and the full access to two octaves. I could use a 28 "/ 29" / 30" baritone scale but for a lot of people this scale is really uncomfortable and hard to play.The guitar has been then equipped with the best components on the market: Grover rotomatics tuning machine, Gotoh bridge, Schaller strap-lock, and toggle switches made in Japan with gold contacts.
A particular attention has been devoted to the choice of pickups: after years spent trying every kind of pickup like Gibson / Duncan / Dimarzio / Voodoo…with any kind of guitar, I exactly know now what kind of pickup a guitar need to have to sound really well with a low tuning : it must to be clear with attack and a big dynamic.Without these three things the sound should be muddy, flat and should not jump out of the mix.The pickups I decided to install are handcrafted in England made with one alnico and one ceramic magnet side by side.They are extremely crystalline, defined and at the same time powerful and huge!!!
This allows the guitar to have a truly wild sound and devastating in the bridge position but also allow to have a big 70's fuzzy sound, acid and heavy in the neck position and a real mixture of these two sounds in between.
The guitar comes tuned in A to A with big Ernie Ball strings.
If things will go as I hope, the future will bring Sg and Strat models guitars, basses, amps, overdrive pedals and fuzz into the B-Tone catalogue!!!
As you can see there are a lot of ideas that I want to develop together with you!
