-- WORKING ON CRAZIEGURL215 - DEMO 2007/2008 --
Well I've been really busy this summer of 2007; not only have I been recording a lot of new material and re-recording old material with an even older friend, I've been experimenting with many new sounds, genres, and styles. With a brand new and expensive midi controller keyboard, MixCraft, BeatCraft, and some brainstorming I've been able to add all sorts of different instruments to a classic "folksy" sound of mine and turned it into something similar to what I've always been hearing in my head. I've been tired of being called "folk" since I was 13...I'm not going to be a hippie anymore, despite my very 60's-fashioned reputation in this small town.
I wrote all sorts of new songs, one of which being the techno-esque song on my player right now, many works-in-progress such as "Prayer," "Crazy Woman/Crazy Girl" **if you heard my promo's of it you wouldn't think this is a corny title**, "Slip Away/Stay Strong, Move On" **actually a remake of a song of the same title,** reworks of the songs "Tears and Shambles," "Letting Go," "Somewhere, Somewhere," "Big Girl," and a new fan favorite, "Fix Me," which completely confuses me. But it's those ones that everyone relates to that make the biggest splash aren't they?
BTW to all those out there who want a copy of "Fix Me," I must finish the song before I give it to you. Let me re-record it with the backbeat, quiet piano and possibly flute, and re-worked guitar before you get your copies! Maybe I'll be evil and charge you, but I doubt it. =D
On top of being busy writing, writing, writing, recording and editing at the end of the day, I've been working with a wonderful program called Beatcraft, found on the same Acoustica software site that I got my mixing program MixCraft. If I had a Mac I would be using the standard program GarageBand **which I am an ace at now after this past year,** but my Windows is what I must make do with while I'm home. Chris bought an Echo card and his new laptop finally works the way it should; maybe I'll get a Mac soon like my mother has promised to help me fund, and I'll have a better quality editing job because of my experience with that program. Beatcraft creates all the backbeats you hear on my new demo songs, and is entirely responsible for the fun little beat I have for "Crazie Techno."
Editing....ahh, how fun. It's strange to edit my own music to this degree because I hear it over and over and over again. Anyone close to me can tell you that I've been complaining about going blind the last few weeks looking at the sound tracks on MixCraft, lining up the tracks perfect, EQ, Gain, Volume control, and the irritation of not being able to edit small portions while the rest of the song plays. But I make do with what I have, and am grateful to have as wonderful a support as I do. Thank you all, if I have not thanked you already.
I've been doing a lot of research of all types of music to try and find a band. I really want to collaborate with some of the artists I'm already familiar with in my area to try and make a kick ass band; it's just a little difficult when all you can get on tracks is simple guitar and vocal. I'm flattered at those that tell me I need no one else but me... but it's embarassing to get invited to play at a venue, and not want to because you're "too folksy" with no band behind you. Even Trent Reznor gets a band to play his songs in concert...if you'd like to help collaborate with me, please let me know!!

I am still pursuing a very pipe dream carreer in the performing arts theatrical world; and I have been invited by a good friend of mine to help create the character of Anna, a Soprano singing part in a brand new musical called "The Perfectionist." I'm working on the very high-pitched opening number "Recognition," soon to be finished and hopefully put up on the musicals MySpace page sometime in the next few weeks.
Keep your eyes and ears open for that opening day recording! I'm sure I'll let you know!
I'm still debating whether or not I want to try out for my University's production of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" this fall. I would honestly love to be in the show, and I think if I'm suited for anything cellatious, that would be prime! Acting, singing, and dancing, in lingerie!!! Who could ask for more? I'm concerned because the last audition I had with that director was disastrous and terrifying; I've tried out for lots of shows and lots of well-known schools for the subject, and never choked like that.
Keep your fingers crossed and please continue to give me input! Thank you, to fans, friends, and everyone else =D Amber ~ Crazie
On an off-the-record note: I have noticed something about most of the self-run one-person band sites out there...and been a little surprised. I don't like to refer to myself in the third person on my biography pages. I think it's weird to say "Amber was born in Denver in 1988...." and go off on myself in the third person if it's obvious I run my own music site. I think it's ... a little pretentious if you ask me. For certain genres, I think it might be a little bit more acceptable. But I write, perform, edit, and finalize all the copies of each and every cover and original. I have no reason to pretend not to be myself on my own page. Maybe it's just because I talk too much, but it feels a little awkward to talk about myself like that. I'd rather you just know the kind of person I am by seeing how I act in a public setting.
