The City Park and Rec. Department has made many improvements to the City Parks and Neighborhood Pools over the last couple of years.
Gile’s has done an outstanding job writing grants for new playground equipment and helping to improve the parks with the assistance of his maintenance crews. It is wonderful to see the children and family’s playing together outside on the new playground equipment.
The neighborhood councils and various other Great Falls Citizens have raised thousands of dollars to improve their parks and neighborhoods, through Bake and Yard Sales.
The residents of Great Falls have also stepped up to the plate to pay for the badly needed repairs at the neighborhood pools through the mill levy they voted on and passed. The Mill Levy which was voted on and passed included all three (3) Neighborhood pools: the Mitchell Pool, the Water Tower Pool, and the Jaycee Pool.
Making improvements to these pools and keeping the fees low has increased the number of people swimming at the neighborhood pools. Why? The children can afford to go to them.
This is the reason we must OPPOSE the $1.00/person increase in open swim fees, especially on children under the age of 18.
I believe by keeping the fees low you will continue to see an increase in children and adults that swim at the neighborhood pools.
This in turn will result in increased revenue. (Low Fees = More People)
The older children will be upset, but they will more than likely pay the higher fees for the water slide, and/or the wave and flow rider once they are at Mitchell Pool. Many of them have jobs and can afford the increased prices. Businesses and organizations will also be able to afford the pool rental fee increases.
Learn more about what is going on in your City, State and Nation, and do NOT be afraid to pass the information onto others. An open government is an honest government. I would like to thank everyone for their feedback. People may have a different point of view on a topic, but if we take the time to listen to these views, we may learn something in the process that will benefit us all.
The City Park and Rec. Department is a valuable asset to the City of Great Falls. The staff at the Park and Rec. Department work many long hours to organize and manage events and activities that residents of Great Falls take for granted.
We all love the City of Great Falls. That is why we serve as volunteers on the various boards, councils, and committees trying to improve it.
Wouldn't it be great if everyone could "Stop Talking & Start Doing"
