NaPoWriMo Challenge: 30 Poems in 30 days for National Poetry Month.
Poem 26/30 morning.
I try to teach children to greet the morning unbrushed teeth ruffled hair and say out loud, this world deserves me. I deserve the world. I am important.
it is a lesson I am sometimes ashamed to still be learning.
today I see a man on the Q Train who has lost his face to a fire. no one wants to look, but can't look away. in it's place lives the monster from under the bed. a ring decorates the third of four fingers on a disfigured hand. who does he love? what does he say to the morning?
