They're Like Trading Cards!
Imagine playing a gig and broadcasting your show live to your web site by way of WiFi. It's happening now. You can't lose fans, because the fans that can't make the show can view the webcast. Fom an E-commerce standpoint, you could even charge a "cyber cover charge" to watch the show. Then, after the show, you can upload the entire event to your iPod, cell phone, laptop or other device. Then, pass it around like a cheap bottle of wine. Streaming videos are now like trading cards.
In late summer of 2007, the band "Hyde," from Rockford IL, began writing new material. A short time later they were contacted by Vixen Productions, a Midwest-based video company, and were asked if they would be interested in filming an upcoming gig for their Myspace site. "We were a bit skeptical at first," said the band's leader Wendell Booth, "But, we decided to give them a shot. They used two video camera angles and filmed two of our shows. Then we gave them a studio recording. They did an impressive job with close ups and the audio/video sync and added some stutter effects along with mixing color and black/white frames. To say the least, we were impressed by the quality at such a low cost. We posted the video on myspacetv.com and on our Myspace site. A lot of our fans have posted the video on their own personal page as well. The internet is a wonderful tool. Promoters, club owners and music fans now have the luxury of seeing us perform in the comfort of their favorite chair in front of their computers. Our fan base continues to grow and we owe it all to this wonderful technology called the internet and streaming video."
