How is it that nobody has come up with a good, cheap device to harness the kinetic energy of exercise equipment in gyms for electricity? Maybe the exercise equipment manufacturers could take the lead - build a small generator with an output that would facilitate recharging cellphone batteries or IPods while you work out! Some guy in Scotland thinks people should be paid by power companies for working out (see comment on the bottom of this interesting report from the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/5009358.stm).
