ok the subject line kinda says it, but I gotta give a bitta detail about our first-ever Harmony Park Hoot..

So our own, beloved, local jam-rockers The Big Wu are putting on a festival at delightful Harmony Park in So MN, near Geneva, MN. It'll happen July 10-12 it's called "The Big Wu Family Reunion" (BWFR). They had reunions for years but haven't done for a while. I've had the very good fortune of attending and playing at several reunions in past years and was thrilled when the chance came around again for this year. And lucky me; I get to play in a couple different groups down there.

But one thing that has always made sense to me was the idea of having a Hoot within the context of a Reunion. Lots of folks around, lots of musicians, instruments, time...the perfect recipe. So when I heard about BWFR-X (the tenth reunion!) I immediately started imagining how we could bring the Hoot into the Wu-fold.. Right off the bat I got blessing from our hosts...a Hoot could work (Jason said to just tell him when and where to show up with his guitar!)...since then I've been attempting to find the perfect Hoot-time, amid all the other reunion-activities. I'd settled on Saturday at noon until I saw that they have live music scheduled starting at noon, and much of it I wanted to see (and/or have those musicians also attend our hoot....so I fretted about that a bit and then Jason (himself!) suggested that the Hoot be latenight, on the second stage, following the last band. And I became very excited. Suddenly we have room for people: instead of trying to cram ourselves and our instrument cases around some random and poorly lit campfire area.. now we'll be in a large space..large enough to allow side jams to spin off if needbe..

So do this:

- block out the weekend of 7/10-12

- go to thebigwu.com

- purchase a ticket to BWFRX
* OR *
- sign up to be a volunteer, which (I think) will get you in free, in exchange for working a shift during the weekend

- get your camping and Hoot-gear together

- show up at BWFRX!! hear The Big Wu, Vince Herman and Great American Taxi, God Johnson, Pert Near Sandstone and many more local and regional musicians do their stuff

- be rested and ready for a late night Friday

- do your Hoot-thing with us very late on 7/10...my guess is we'll be watchin the sun come up over beautiful Lake Geneva
