what can I do to make this world a better place. We're at crisis... we still have wars, many species are disappearing and the earth is getting warm.

Then I see this public elementary school in Brooklyn, NY called BNS. And I actually see hope. Children are the future, and this school is doing a great job educating kids.
They're not too hot on educating them to score good on these standardized tests many parents & teachers get crazy over, but those passionate teachers are more focused on educating kids for the world.
My son comes home from school and made me put the pitcher in the bath tub while we wait for shower to get warm. He told me I should use it to water the plants. Children's little conserving action or consciousness like this can make a big difference in the long run.
My daughter is part of this recycling/composting program her school is doing, removing over one ton of food waste from NYC landfills right now.

Yes, I see true Green Heros in the school.
