As I said in my previous blog posting, my dear friend Heather and her awesome husband, Jaime, came to stay with me last weekend whilst they scoured the Portland IKEA for a new kitchen. Our pre-planned itinerary set aside time for a "mini makeover" session. These makeover sessions have been a staple of our 14 year friendship and will remain so provided I don't ever lose the use of my hands! (I'm posting 2 photos from my work back in 1997 as proof of one such session.) I love her adventurous spirit and forgiving nature given that my ambitious goals often surpassed my technical abilities. There was a time when I used to think pain was an unavoidable part of enhancing one's beauty. Now, of course, I know better. Nobody is more relieved by that conclusion than Heather. But, deep down, I'm pretty sure part of her still misses a burned scalp, dye stained hairlines and hair that would sizzle before breaking off from the use of a curling iron. Here are 2 photos (click on the thumbnail to enlarge the photo) that pay homage to those early sessions:

So, I thought I'd share some "before & after" photos of my most recent work with you all and see if you think the results are acceptable. In these first 2 "before" photos (click on the thumbnail to enlarge the photo), take special notice of her hair's overgrown roots, brassy tonal quality and overgrown eyebrows:

In these last 2 "after" photos (click on the thumbnail to enlarge the photo), you should see that I got rid of her roots, corrected her brassy color, added some subtle highlights, shaped/groomed her eyebrows and gave her a minor trim:

What do you think of the results? Keep in mind, I haven't colored a woman's hair in at least 2 years, I'm self taught and I only have over-the-counter chemicals at my disposal. :)

*FULL DISCLOSURE: It should be dully noted that Heather's trip to my house had been planned for over a month and during that time, I asked her to refrain from a haircut, hair color or eyebrow tweezing. She didn't show up on my doorstep looking a hot mess by accident! LOL!

Good job! It's amazing the difference an eyebrow grooming can make. Her hair has a lot more depth to it too. I remember the Heather Makeovers of days past. My lungs are still permanently scarred from all the chain smoking you guys did.

Hope they got their kitchen outfitted too. I'm sure that was fun.

As always you did a great job (well maybe there were a few Oh My God's in there) i look forward to my sessions again (although I don't think there is hope for the eyebrows age has a play in that and the lack of them) Heather ha always been a trooper when it comes to experiments. She looks great as always Love ya Heather!!!! Dreat job kiddo.
