What's up Everybody,
We've entered Quality Forward's Earth Day Asheville competition. They are putting on a concert at the Orange Peel on April 22, 2008 in celebration of Earth Day. We're competing against other local acts with the winners getting a performance slot at the concert. The way it works is that you visit their website and vote for your favorite bands in each category. The bands with the most votes get chosen to play.
We need your help! We'd love to play at the Peel so please go by their site and vote for us. We're registered in the Americana / Country / Acoustic / Singer-Songwriter category. All you have to do is register and cast your vote for Brushfire Stankgrass. The winner in each category also gets $1000! If we win we'll by you all beers!
Just visit the link below and take a couple of minutes to vote. The world needs more Stankgrass!

Quality Forward's Earth Day Asheville
Presented by Earth Fare at the Orange Peel
Tuesday April 22, 2008
8pm-midnight
Quality Forward, a local non-profit affiliated with Keep American Beautiful, is sponsoring an 18 and over Earth Day Asheville 2008 music showcase and local designer's fashion show featuring recycled materials on April 22nd at the Orange Peel in downtown Asheville. The event will raise funds for earth-friendly projects by Quality Forward including the launch of Asheville Litter Free (ALF), a community-wide anti-litter campaign.
The musical entertainment provided will be determined by community on-line voting in 6 different genre categories. Beginning March 9th until April 8th, you'll be able to access the website www.earthdayasheville.org where you'll be instructed on how to vote for your favorite music act. The genres represented are Jazz/Blues/R&B; Bluegrass/Oldtime; Americana/Country/Acoustic; Latin/World/Reggae; Rock/Funk/Dance; and Electronic.
How to Vote
Here's what will happen when you go visit the site:
A list of bands in each genre will be linked there and with a click of your mouse, you'll be sent to the website/myspace of the bands behind them. You'll be able to hear sound clips and review the gig calendars of each contestant. After listening, the user friendly voting procedure instructions will guide you to register to vote. You can only vote once, so make sure you've got your picks in each category before you vote. After registering, you will receive an email guiding you on how to place your vote.
We've registered in the Americana / Country / Acoustic / Singer-Songwriter category and hope you'll take a moment to go there and vote for me/us. If the band wins, we'll be playing a 30-min set along with the other 5 winners in each of the other categories.
Wonderfully giving local businesses have sponsored these genres by way of donating monetary compensation to each of the winning bands. Checks for $1000 will be presented to each band by the respective business that sponsored their genre, the night of the concert. This is going to be big! Here's those generous sponsors:
Jazz/Blues/R & B: Hands of Sean Perry builders
Bluegrass/Oldtime: EcoBuilders and EcoHouse Realty
Americana/Country/Acoustic: Pepsi Cola
Latin/World/Reggae: Jimmy White Builders
Rock/Funk/Dance: McGill & Associates
Electronic: Charlotte Street Computers
