For years, ACIDplanet.com ® has called upon its vast community of creators to dig deep into their digital toolboxes and remix tracks from some of the world's most talented and diverse artists. This time you're the artist we're looking to collaborate with.
To celebrate the debut of our Artist Integrated Quartet, ACIDplanet.com® presents Quartet to Quintet: The Ultimate Collaboration. Artist Integration is a new sample library concept rooted in the belief that the best performances are born out of inspiration and collaboration. What better way to spread the word than a contest with a little twist?
We've provided you with a 320k MP3 download of "Quartet to Quintet," a song created using loops from all four Artist Integrated Quartet libraries. It's got a beginning, an end, and everything in between. What it doesn't have is you…at least not yet. Download the MP3, drop it into your DAW of choice, and tack on that special touch that only you can provide. When you've transformed our Quartet into a Quintet, save down your track and upload it to ACIDplanet. It's that simple.
Of course, a contest as special as this deserves some pretty special rewards, so we've reached into the prize bin and pulled out not one, not two, but four big prize packages, courtesy of our friends at Open Labs, Gibson, and Sony. Special note: This is not a remix contest, but rather a performance event. You're not allowed to change the song you download; just contribute to it. How To EnterFirst, download the MP3 of "Quartet To Quintet." If you don't already have ACID® software, download the free ACID XPRESS-- software. Next, drop the file into your DAW and record your new additions over the top of the song. You can add vocals, guitars, additional bass, orchestration, kazoo, whatever you want! Just as long as you leave the original song structure intact and let us know what element you decided to add. When you're done, return to this page and click the Upload My Entry button. Upload your track, and you've entered the contest.

Tips:
At 12:00 a.m. midnight PST on Thursday, February 28, 2008, the contest will be closed and no further uploads will be accepted. If you are new to ACIDplanet, you should create an account and upload a song as soon as possible so that you can work out any problems with uploading that you may encounter. Also, uploading a song can take a considerable amount of time. It's better not to wait until the last few hours of the contest to start uploading your entry.
Entrants must upload a Windows Media format or Real Media format version of their entry first. You will not be able to upload any additional formats after the contest closes, so if also you want to upload an mp3 version, please allow enough time to upload them both before the contest closing time.
Entrants must provide accurate contact information (valid e-mail and postal address) in their registration at ACIDplanet.com for the purpose of contacting winners. You can update your contact information here.

No, this isn't the standard remix contest, consider it a performance.
What is the BPM (Beats Per Minute) and Key, and length.
The Quartet to Quintet Song is 100bpm, in the Key of A and length is 5:12.
Do we have to maintain the original BPM, key and length?
It's important to keep the bpm and key the same as the original. The song must start off with the hi-hat count-off and end with the guitar and synth fade.
We understand that sometimes projects will render out a bit long or short. Any entry with the length too short or long will not make it through the first round of judging, so try to keep it close.
