A mixed bag of electronica greeted The Beat last weekend, which began with the electropop goodness of The L.E.D.s who are touring their recent release Still. Warming-up duties in the nicely populated tavern bar at the Dux de Lux on Saturday night was left to the unique musical machinations of Ed Musik, who played a set of 80'ssynth- influenced tunes, conjurih up a bit of dancefloor action. An entertaining crowd pleaseing effort.
The great thing about the L.E.D.s is the way they make music. It's that D.I.Y. approach that we all can appreciate , where you jus get on with the job of making albums and getting them out there, with little fanfare and lots of attention to how it sounds.
In the live arena not much changes, although the fanfare is up a notch, but production wise it was a perfect sounding room on Saturday, as this four-piece gave the fans an excellent timeof pop goodness, sprinkled generously with good samples and sanguine percussion with the hour-long set including a mix of songs from both 2006's We are the L.E.D.s and Still.
