Desc: After overhearing a shocking secret, precocious orphan Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) trades her carefree existence roaming the halls of Jordan College for an otherworldly adventure in the far North, unaware that it's part of her destiny. Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Sam Elliott co-star in this fantasy-laden family adventure based on the first book of the Philip Pullman trilogy His Dark Materials.

The "orphan" lives with her uncle. So she's not completely an orphan persay. Anyway. The legend says that there will be a child able to use and read this Golden Compass, in which Lyla is given in this movie. A woman offers to take her to the north with her, and being one that wants to badly to learn of new things, she goes.... which permission of course. The woman is not all she turns out to be, and eventually the girl figures out her secret and begins her journey (Where she hires an "armored bear" to protect her. A pretty cute scene if you ask me). The movie will keep you on your toes as you watch the journey unfold.

This is another one I'd definitely recommend.... for children and adults alike. Although the rating it PG-13... I say I'd recommend it to children as the rating comes from language and fighting only. No nudity and no sex. Which is my only concern when allowing my own son to watch movies. By the way, he loved it too.
