I went to a phenomenal concert tonight.

The musicianship was the top with strong solos accenting the organic arrangments and backup singing with harmonies so tight you could barely tell where one voice ended and the other began.

The stage lighting gave delicious colour to each note and word. The Sony Centre was full of people all there to celebrate the artistry of one man. He took us in with his signature hat, his brilliant lyrics, his gutsy substance meets style vocals, his grand charisma and the generous way he addressed us all... like old friends. His name... Mr. Leonard Cohen.. Of course.

This was one of the best concerts I have been to in years. The moment Mr. Cohen took the stage the audience was in great hands. Song after song he reminded all of us why he is looked upon as a genius. His words... Perfection cradled and catapulted by music that added to their value. Each sentence he presented painted in vivid colour his experiences of love, loss, doubt, cheer and every other topic that makes up everyday living and loving. He mesmerized us for 3 hours with his diverse repertoire that has been a soundtrack to millions for years. I have never seen an audience react so passionately to an artist. He received well-deserved standing ovations after every song.

My favourite moments included: his reading of the gorgeous poem "A Thousand Kisses Deep"; His performance of the stunning classics: "Hallelujah", I'm Your Man" and "Dance Me to the End of Love"; and the hilarious and drenched in attitude performance of "Tower of Song" .

He did 5 encores! Five!!!! It was a thoroughly satisfying and engaging show.
